Together with our global community, we extend the Internet’s reach and protect its long-term well-being.
2023 Year in Review
Over 2.6 billion people worldwide lack Internet access, and for those connected, many lack adequate laws and practices that safeguard their online privacy.
Since 1992, we’ve made it our mission to change this. With the dedicated contributions of our community and partners, we work to extend the Internet’s reach and make it secure.
In our 2023 Year in Review, we spotlight our progress and our global community’s vital role in this.
Narrowing the Digital Divide in Rwanda
Our Rwanda Chapter equipped a school with an Internet access center, giving students more opportunities to learn and fulfill their potential.
Internet access centers in Rwanda’s Bugesera district have connected thousands of students, teachers, and community members to the Internet.

Return to Everest: Happily Connected Sherpas
We returned to the villages of Khunde and Khumjung to provide technical training so residents can manage and troubleshoot their community network.
The villages are home to the highest community network in the world and over 1,000 happily connected Sherpas.

”There’s no better place to meet interesting, internationally-minded people with a similar mission. You can have your coffee around the corner. But if you want to see the world, you need to have your coffee with someone from the Internet Society.”
We work together to ensure the Internet thrives and everyone can benefit from it.
