SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- A brush fire that broke out in the Santa Clarita area prompted evacuations Sunday afternoon.

The fire started around 1:20 p.m. near Trumpet Drive and Valle Del Oro, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

It came dangerously close to those living in The Vistas condo complex, though no injuries were reported and there was no word of any damage to any structures.

The evacuation order was issued for those living in the area though according to witnesses who spoke with ABC7, many residents stayed.

Some said this is the second fire they've seen in the area in the last two days.

"A lot of people, because this has happened so much, and the firefighters are amazing, they're actually really good about getting the fires out like super fast, a lot of people don't even leave," said one resident. "They just stay anyway and wait, unless they physically tell you you have to leave. We're actually moving because I'm over fire season. We're moving to Rhode Island because I can't take the fires anymore."

The fire was put out by the afternoon and evacuation orders were lifted around 5 p.m.

Residents said firefighting helicopters dropped water over the flames engulfing the area, which helped put the fire out quickly.

An excessive heat warning will be in effect until Sunday night in the Santa Clarita Valley, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Calabasas, San Fernando Valley and eastern San Gabriel Mountains.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
