This month, #Careem’s Tech and Careem Pay leadership visited Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to celebrate the opening of our new office in Islamabad - our 20th tech site in the region! 🚀 They connected with our growing tech team in #Pakistan to discuss our Everything App expansion strategy. They also met Pakistani Government officials and top university representatives to explore partnerships aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s technology sector and fostering cutting-edge local research 🧠 Our commitment to Pakistan runs deep. Careem’s very first line of code was written in Karachi, and today, Pakistan stands as our largest emerging market tech hub with 172 engineering colleagues across three tech sites. These talented teams are at the forefront of building some of the most critical services in marketplace, fintech, e-commerce, security, and infrastructure for the region 🌏

This month, we challenged colleagues to come up with an AI-driven innovation to enhance our services in the first ever #Careem AI Hackathon, aka the GEN AI: Global Hack Challenge 🚀 The winners of the hackathon would have their idea implemented on the app 📲 Needless to say, Careemers LOVE a good challenge 💪🏽 By the end of the hackathon, we had 31 brilliant submissions and a total of 192 participants across five countries 🤯 This definitely made choosing one winning idea even harder. Can you guess what the winning idea was? Hint: it involves food 🍔

Congrats to Chase Lario, our VP of Groceries, for being featured in Retail ME's 2024 Yearbook of Top Grocery Voices in the MENA region! 🎉 Chase had a busy night, and also spoke at the Food and Business Forum 2024 on about the future of grocery delivery with a focus on AI, predictive analytics, and supply chain optimisation 🛒 Kudos to Chase and the #Careem Groceries team for a well-deserved recognition! 🚀
