Hydropower plays a significant role, contributing to approximately 51% of all renewable electricity generation. It represents about 15% of total electricity production globally. Notably, no country has achieved 100% renewables without including hydropower in their energy mix. As of 2023, the installed hydropower capacity reached an impressive 1,416 gigawatts (GW), resulting in a generation of 4,416 terawatt hours (TWh). ANDRITZ offers a comprehensive hydropower service and product portfolio that covers the entire lifecycle of a hydropower plant. The expertise spans from design and engineering to manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and training, ensuring seamless solutions “from water to wire” – all from a single source. Building on our comprehensive hydropower services, Frédéric Sauze’s addition to the ANDRITZ Executive Board in 2023 marked a pivotal moment for ANDRITZ Hydropower. With his leadership, we are committed to continue advancing innovation and achieving excellence in the industry. Successful model acceptance test of Ebensee pumped storage plant ANDRITZ is proud to be a part of the groundbreaking project with Energie AG, which is shaping the sustainable energy future. Their latest project, the Ebensee Pumped Storage Plant, serves as a green battery to balance fluctuations in power generation from wind and solar plants, thereby ensuring supply security. Excess energy is utilized to pump water from the lake Traunsee to a mountain reservoir located 500 meters above, behind the Großer Sonnstein mountain. When needed, the stored water is released to generate clean energy. ANDRITZ is supplying a 170 MW variable-speed pump turbine, the generator, and the associated automation. At a time when global energy demand is rising and the share of variable renewable energy sources is increasing, economic solutions for large-scale energy storage are of crucial importance. With state-of-the-art equipment and our expertise, we are contributing to a clean and sustainable energy future. #ANDRITZ #RenewableEnergy #SustainableFuture #PumpedStorage #PumpedHydro #Austria

Myntdu Leska-1, India - Originally commissioned in 2009 by ANDRITZ, in collaboration with the esteemed client, M/s. MePGCL, Meghalaya, the Myntdu Leska-1 project is a testament of engineering excellence. Fast forward to March 2024, ANDRITZ was honored once again with the task of repairing the generator for Unit 1. The journey to this accomplishment was far from easy. Our dedicated execution team faced numerous challenges such as accommodation issues and irregular power supply. The severe weather conditions, marked by torrential rains, caused heavy landslides, making travelling to the project site an arduous task. Yet, despite these obstacles, the unwavering support of our client, MePGCL, and the resilient spirit of our team ensured that we completed the work on the unit well ahead of the scheduled six-month period. Our commitment to excellence was recognized, earning us a sincere letter of appreciation from MePGCL, expressing their satisfaction with our outstanding work. Looking ahead, we are excited about the potential for continued successful collaborations with MePGCL. With the support of our competent and professional team, we are ready to carry forward our legacy of engineered success! #andritz #hydropower #renewableenergy #ForTheChange #engineeredsuccess #energy #india

🌿🔋 Pumped Storage Technology: Powering the Clean Energy Future 🌊⚡ As we journey towards a #NetZeroCarbon future, the role of bulk energy storage has never been more critical. Pumped Storage Hydropower (PSH) emerges as a game-changer in this transition, offering the most proven, reliable, and cost-efficient technology for bulk energy storage available today. 💚 Why Pumped Storage? 1. Best-Proven, Low-Risk Technology: PSH is the world's oldest and most successful form of energy storage, with a very long facility lifetime and minimal operational risks. 2. Balancing Volatile Renewable Energy: PSH plants excel in balancing grid fluctuations, seamlessly integrating intermittent renewable energy sources like wind and solar, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply. 3. Managing Grid Bottlenecks: By absorbing excess power when production is high and releasing it when demand surges, PSH effectively manages grid bottlenecks. 4. Quick Response to Changing Demand: PSH supports grid stability by quickly responding to changes in demand or sudden outages, providing essential flexibility. 5. Increasing Grid Inertia and Black Start Capability: PSH contributes to grid stability by increasing grid inertia and offering black start capability, essential for recovering from blackouts. 🌍 Supporting Renewable Energy: By enabling the large-scale integration of renewable energy, PSH plays a vital role in our sustainable energy landscape. It provides the necessary backup to accommodate the variable output from wind and solar, making these green energy sources more viable and efficient. 🔋⚡Pumped Storage is the key to unlocking the full potential of renewable energy - enabling the green transition. 🌞💧 For a better future. For a greener planet. FOR THE CHANGE. Hydropower #ForTheChange (https://lnkd.in/dgufJCs8) #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #PumpedStorage #Sustainability #GreenFuture #EnergyTransition #ANDRITZ

Piottino, Switzerland - Contract for the rehabilitation of the 3 Francis groups In April 2024, AET (Azienda Elettrica Ticinese) awarded the ANDRITZ/INGETEAM consortium (Spain) the contract for the supply of the electromechanical equipment for the rehabilitation of the Piottino hydropower plant in Ticino. The Piottino hydropower plant was built between 1928 and 1932 by Officine Elettriche Ticinesi. Originally equipped with two vertical Francis units, it was extended with a third unit in 1957, increasing the total power plant output to 67 MW. The plant produces around 310 GWh per year, which corresponds to the needs of 77,500 households. AET has been operating the plant since 1972, after the water utilization concession expired and the hydropower plant was taken over by the County of Ticino. In recent years, AET has carried out an extensive modernization program for the power plant, the main objectives of which are the replacements of the electromechanical equipment and the power plant's valves. As part of this extensive refurbishment program, ANDRITZ Switzerland and its partner INGETEAM will supply the turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems. The delivery of the units will be staggered, with the rehabilitation of the first group taking place in April 2027, and the last one in April 2029. A model test will also be carried out in our hydraulic laboratory in Linz, Austria to optimize the hydraulic performance. ANDRITZ and its partners would like to thank AET for the trust placed in them and look forward to the successful realization of the project. #Andritz #Hydropower #Modernization #Renewal #Francis #AET
