I watched a rerun of a recent #60minutes programme on AI and heard an intriguing utterance from co-Founder of #cubric - Pinar Sean Demera. In response to most people's concerns around their jobs being made redundant or humankind more broadly being under threat, she said, "Just because a machine can do faster calculation comparisons and analytical solution creation doesn't make it smarter than you it simply compute faster, in my world, in my belief 'smarts' have to do with your capacity to love, create, expand, transcend, these are qualities that no machine can ever bear, that are reserved for only Humans." The thrust of the story was the sheer computing power of NVIDIA and how the processing of information is so swift now that soon a whole lot of information will be sifted and presented to us on a plate. The implications for academia and law are considerable, but also what about the entire process of the accrual and processing of ideas by the human brain?
