Energy demand in Western Australia is forecast to increase by 55% over the next decade, driven by population expansion and electrification trends across various sectors. This follows the State having already experienced a significant rise in energy prices, up 80% over the past two years. Hear our CEO Adam Kiley discuss energy prices and the demand forecast for WA with Crux Investor Matthew Gordon. Our Waroona Renewable Energy Project remains well placed to help to State meet its future energy needs. Full interview: https://loom.ly/5wxR1Eo

Speaking with Crux Investor Matthew Gordon, our CEO Adam Kiley discusses Frontier's energy sales and storage strategy for the Waroona Renewable Energy Project. Western Australia has the most sunlight hours in the country and one of the highest installation rates of rooftop solar (PV) at ~40%; this is expected to increase to ~50% by 2030 ☀️ In the below clip, Adam discusses energy sales FHE is targeting from direct solar and battery storage. The inclusion of a battery at Waroona enables arbitrage to maximise revenue, allowing for electricity sales to be ‘shifted’ – i.e. electricity is stored in low price periods (middle of the day), and sold in high demand/high price periods (5pm – 9pm). Frontier's multiple revenue streams will include revenue from Reserve Capacity Payments (36%), Energy Sales – Battery (peak period – 27%), Energy Sales – Solar direct (18%), LGC's (a Government-backed carbon credit for electricity producers – 16%) and ESS' (a payment for assisting in maintaining security and reliability of supply – 3%). Frontier welcomes the release of the final design of the Federal Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) in Western Australia, which provides an extra level of financial certainty for leading clean energy projects such as Frontier’s Waroona Renewable Energy Project. Working in parallel with existing Western Australian electricity market mechanisms, the CIS will underwrite 1.1GW/4.4GWh of new, clean dispatchable energy in the State, with 500MW/2GWh of projects being sought via the first tender to be released this month. Our CEO Adam Kiley commented: “Frontier would like to thank the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water; and Energy Policy WA for taking on board feedback from industry, which we believe has resulted in an enhanced design that will incentivise genuine green dispatchable energy supplies. "The CIS represents a significant potential boost to Frontier’s plans, as it guarantees a minimum level of support for renewable-energy-supplied battery projects for up to 15 years. This is an increase from the current five years in existing electricity market mechanisms, providing investors and developers greater confidence to invest significantly in renewable energy projects in Western Australia." Our CEO Adam Kiley was interviewed by Crux Investor Matthew Gordon late last week. “Frontier Energy represents a compelling opportunity for investors looking to gain exposure to the renewable energy transition in Western Australia,” writes Crux. “The company's strategic advantages, including prime location, secured grid connections, and the benefits of the Reserve Capacity Mechanism, position it well to capitalize on the state's growing energy needs and shift away from coal power. “As the company moves towards financial close and Final Investment Decision in the coming months, investors have the opportunity to participate in a project that could play a significant role in Western Australia's energy future. With its scalable approach and potential for future expansion, Frontier Energy offers both near-term catalysts and long-term growth potential in the rapidly evolving renewable energy sector.” Watch the full interview here: https://loom.ly/5wxR1Eo

Frontier Energy notes the Australian Energy Market Operator’s 2024 Electricity Statement of Opportunities for the WA Wholesale Electricity Market forecasts a significant shortfall of power generation in WA from 2027 onwards, and a need for new electricity generation and storage to be brought online quickly. The ESOO is an annual report estimating 10-year electricity demand / supply. Our CEO Adam Kiley commented: “Similar to last year’s ESOO report, the 2024 version again highlights the urgent need for renewable capacity to be added in the WEM and paints a sobering picture of forecast shortfalls in electricity supply over the next decade, as demand continues to increase while fossil fuelled generation is planned to be retired. "Stage One of the Company’s Project, which has 120MWdc renewable solar electricity and 80MW four-hour battery storage, will help address this urgent need, especially as it is located in an unconstrained part of the electricity network. Fortunately for the company and for the WEM, Waroona’s expansion potential is significant at multiples of Stage One capacity. Expansion studies are expected to commence in the second half of this year." Read the full release here: https://loom.ly/RfW4xkw
