We are proud to announce that through our Regional Grants Program, 28 regional community groups across Australia will benefit from a share of $2 million. The recipients were selected from more than 1,700 applications and will receive a combination of cash, free flights, and marketing support depending on the needs of the organisation.      Now in its third year, the program has supported 80 not-for-profit groups and projects across regional Australia, totaling $5 million in grants since it launched in 2019.    To learn more about the recipients of our 2024 Regional Grants Program visit: https://lnkd.in/g4xgdZEA   Pictured: QantasLink Captain Katrina Lynch, Angela with Macy, Story Dogs volunteer, QantasLink Chief Pilot, David Nelson, Janine Sigley, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Story Dogs and QantasLink Flight Attendant Stephanie Vesper

As we approach the end of #NAIDOCWeek 2024, we asked QantasLink cabin crew members India Anu, a proud Samu and Koedal woman from the Torres Strait Islands, and Shelby Dalglish, a proud woman from the Mamu Tribe, what it means for them to keep communities connected in Far North Queensland. India: "It is wonderful to see QantasLink connecting family back home to their communities and giving tourists the opportunity to visit remote communities and learn about different cultures. I really enjoy seeing families reconnect. "I am proud to be a role model for young Indigenous kids as a QantasLink Flight Attendant all-year round, but especially during NAIDOC Week which is a time recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and pass that cultural knowledge down through generations." Shelby: "NAIDOC week is very important to me. It's a time to recognise and celebrate our history and culture as one. "I am so proud to be a part of the team who connects Australia, and one of my favourite parts of my job is creating memories and developing special relationships with customers to make their travel through this area that extra bit special. "Flying to places like Weipa regularly is an honour as we get to see those connections happen, and it's always special to see the landscapes and appreciate the land that we fly over and live on today."

Touchdown in Hobart 🛬 Our next-generation QantasLink Airbus A220 aircraft landed in Tasmania for the first time today, operating as QF1291 from Melbourne. It marks the first time the aircraft type has visited the Apple Isle, with the A220 also set to begin operating on the Melbourne-Launceston route from mid-November. Qantas and Jetstar have also reached a new long-term commercial agreement with Hobart Airport, which will see Qantas invest in a new lounge. Expected to open in 2027, the new Qantas Club will have almost double the current capacity and showcase Tasmanian produce. 📸: Steve Watts, Hobart Airport

"I started working for Qantas at Kai Tak Airport in 1988 when our Boeing 747-300s operated regularly – I was always in awe of the beauty of the Kangaroo tail against Hong Kong Harbour. Working at Qantas for the past 35 years, I’ve held many roles including Customer Service Officer, Airport Duty Controller, Lounge Manager and now Duty Airport Manager. I remember back in the 90s, we used to have to deliver the Terminal Area Forecast. When it was my first go, I was so nervous that when I went to speak, I completely mixed up my words! Luckily, we all had a laugh, and I was able deliver the message with more confidence for the next one! As a Duty Airport Manager, I’m responsible for everything above and below the wing, day-to-day airport operations and on time performance. Each day brings new challenges in a dynamic industry like aviation, but even after all this time, I still learn something new every day. The appreciation from our customers, and the teamwork from my colleagues energises me. I feel so proud to have held a number of roles at Qantas and I’ve learnt a lot from each chapter…travelling the world has been a bonus! Working for Qantas is like a big family, and it’s always made me feel a little bit Australian. I’ve even picked up my fair share of Aussie slang! I’m so happy my 35 years have played a part in Qantas’ 75 years of operations in Hong Kong”. -Rebecca, Hong Kong Duty Airport Manager

Today we are celebrating 75 years of Qantas operations in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 On 26 June 1949, a Douglas DC-4 Skymaster propeller aircraft arrived at Kai Tak Airport, marking the first ever Qantas service to Hong Kong. The flight travelled between Sydney and Hong Kong via Darwin and Labuan, with a total journey time of over 20 hours. The history of Qantas in Hong Kong captures the remarkable development of the aviation industry, with services operated by DC4 Skymasters, Super Constellations, Lockheed Electras, Boeing 707s, 767s and 747s. Today, Qantas operates daily flights from Hong Kong to Sydney and Melbourne on the Airbus A330 aircraft.

Bon Voyage! 🇫🇷🥖✈️   We're excited to reveal our classic French-inspired menus, limited-edition pyjamas, and amenity kits as we prepare to launch direct services between Perth and Paris on July 12.   Customers travelling on the new flights will be treated to popular French classics curated by Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage and Service, Neil Perry.    Bouillabaisse of snapper and Skull Island prawns; pithivier of chicken and tarragon with onion puree; and chocolate mousse with caramel poached pears, almonds and chantilly cream; will be served up to celebrate the start of the Paris flights.   The limited-edition chic pyjamas were created by Australian designer Martin Grant, with the navy design displaying the journey between Australia and France as Qantas becomes the first ever airline to operate direct flights between the two nations.
