Changing young lives through meaningful employment.
About us
Talent RISE, established in 2014, is the charitable foundation of Talent, born out of our vision to facilitate real world solutions to empower and change the lives of young people. We do this by providing education, training, life skills and opportunities to gain independence and purpose through employment. We work with young people aged 16-25 years old, who are experiencing challenging barriers to employment, and work closely with our clients to source training, job opportunities, internships and also host workshops. Since our launch, we have engaged with 3500+ young people in employment initiatives and have placed over 500 into meaningful employment. Our mission is to upskill and empower young people to commence and build thriving sustainable careers in future-facing enterprises, whilst assisting employers in building inclusive working environments which will deliver the business benefits derived from a more diverse workforce.

Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou o Māori! Matariki marks the start of the Māori New Year in Aotearoa, and as this will be our third annual rā whakatā ā-ture (public holiday) celebrating, it’s a reflection of the growing recognition and importance of Matariki in New Zealand culture. The name Matariki means “tiny eyes” or “eyes of God” in Māori and represents the rising of the star cluster, more commonly known as Pleiades. At Talent RISE, we’re advocates for helping our young people reach for the stars and uplifting their mana through the power of employment. If you are a young person wanting to begin that journey or an employer who is wanting to empower the lives of more rangatahi (young people) across the motu, please reach out to our team in Aotearoa - Shanelle Partridge, Taylor-Rose Lealaisalanoa and Jade Kopua. If you would like to learn more about Matariki, the symbolism of the stars for Māori, or how you may want to celebrate the occasion, feel free to check out this website to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gJdvipcr Mānawatia a Matariki, e te iwi. #matariki #māorinewyear #youthempowerment #rangatahi

Our Equal Access Program was co-designed with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre to support eligible young people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds by providing financial support into further education, training, or an apprenticeship. Here are two stories of young people who recently found refuge in Australia, who we have proudly supported: 👨⚕️ Nikita – From a small town in Siberia, Russia, 22-year-old Nikita fled to Australia with the dream to become a nurse. RISE will help cover the fees of his prerequisite courses and his Diploma of Nursing. 👨🍳 Vernon – 18-year-old Vernon arrived from Papua New Guinea, suffering from PTSD. With a passion for cooking, he dreams of becoming a chef. RISE has helped pay his Certificate III in Commercial Cookery course fees and covered the cost of his equipment and uniform. Together, we’re doing our part in championing their rights to seek safety, which includes building a secure future through pragmatic economic support. 💙 If you’re an employer who wants to help change the lives of young people experiencing structural barriers, reach out today: https://lnkd.in/gpSwKF2k #worldrefugeeday #peopleseekingasylum #refugees #equalaccessprogram

When young refugees and asylum seekers arrive in a new country, they face significant hurdles on their path to securing full-time jobs that turn into meaningful careers. From economic barriers to a lack of recognised qualifications, these obstacles can seem insurmountable. This is why we're proud to have co-designed the Equal Access Program in partnership with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre to help support young people of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds by providing financial support into further education, training, or an apprenticeship. If you're an employer looking to help change a young person's life, reach out today: https://lnkd.in/gpSwKF2k #refugeeweek #equalaccessprogram #youngpeople #peopleseekingasylum
To recognise #RefugeeWeekAU, we revisit this inspiring and heartwarming video of James Fallon High School student, Carlos. “I have learnt how to be resilient. I am learning how to believe in myself and I will never stop learning.” There are more than 12,000 students from refugee backgrounds in NSW public schools. Approximately 1,800 newly arrived refugee students enrol each year. Learn more about how our schools support refugee students and families:. https://brnw.ch/21wKMru #LoveWhereYouLearn

Last week, as part of Youth Week in NZ, we held a lunch and learn session with our past RISE graduates who gave a kōrero about their journey to securing employment with our current work readiness cohort. 💙 This year's theme, “Māwherangi a tama roto ka taka, kāpuia ake ka pūrangiaho”, speaks to the power of shared experiences and collective support; providing our current tauira the chance to hear the stories of those who came before them and seeing what they are capable of achieving for themselves. Our RISE rangatira talked about our work readiness programme, telling their stories about how employment has changed their lives, speaking particularly to career development, savings, life milestones, and the goals they've achieved since graduating. We hope this motivates our young people to push through the remaining weeks of the work readiness programme, and completing the goals they set with us. Special thank you to Silila Setefano, Zephaniah Neru, Lyrique Sua, and Nicholas Thompson-Eyre for sharing their journeys with us and to Ara Taiohi for funding this event. Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari, he toa takitini! Success is not that of one but that of a collective! #youthweeknz24 #RISErangatira #leadtheway #youthemployment #Arataiohi Taylor-Rose Lealaisalanoa Jade Kopua Shanelle Partridge Kara Smith
