We wholeheartedly welcome the announcement of a Clean Industrial Deal and a European Competitiveness Fund and congratulate Ursula von der Leyen on her re-election as President of the European Commission 👏. Six months since the European Industry Summit, the collective voice of 25 industrial sectors represented by nearly 1,300 stakeholders that signed the Antwerp Declaration has been heard loud and clear. A Clean Industrial Deal will safeguard the competitiveness of Europe’s energy-intensive industries and allow us to achieve our common aspirations to implement the #EUGreenDeal 🌍. We look forward to working with the new European Commission on these initiatives towards a greener, prosperous, and more competitive Europe. Together, we can ensure that the future of clean and cutting-edge technology is made in Europe 🦾. The numbers in the latest #chemicaltrends report for the first quarter of 2024 are encouraging… 🧮 Read online: https://lnkd.in/ergGQkEZ 📈 Output in was 1.8% higher than in Q4-2023 📊 Small increase of capacity utilisation from 74.4% in Q3-2023 to 75.5% 🧮 The EU27 chemicals trade surplus reached the highest value since Q1 2022 (€14.8 bn) …yet should be taken with a grain of salt 🧂, given that their benchmark is 2023: a year where production was still far below pre-COVID levels. 📢 Cefic, alongside 90 key European organisations, urges EU Institutions to significantly increase the RD&I budget in the next European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10).   As the global technology race intensifies, the EU must boost RD&I investments to remain competitive. Now is the time to reinforce Europe’s long-term competitiveness with collaborative research, development, and innovation to deliver Europe’s green and digital transitions through: ✴ public-private partnerships ✴ incentives for industry to invest in RD&I in Europe.
