Since the competition, we have been taking the steps needed to put our product on the market and get the company up and running at the ground level.

The CSUN International Study Tour granted me and other 23 students from the Nazarian College to China from May 31 to June 10. We visited numerous businesses and cultural locations in the coastal city of Qingdao and the capital of Beijing.

The CSUN International Study Tour granted me and other 23 students from the Nazarian College to China from May 31 to June 10. We visited numerous businesses and cultural locations in the coastal city of Qingdao and the capital of Beijing.

Our first stop was Qingdao Dellware Refrigeration Co., Ltd in Qingdao, a commercial refrigerator manufacturing company and certified supplier to well-known companies such as Pepsi, Haagen-Dazs, and Coca Cola. Next, we got to witness the manufacturing process of metal parts at Qingdao P&P Metal Products Co., Ltd. Our third stop was at the headquarters of home appliance manufacturer Haier Group Corporation, where we learned the history of appliances such as televisions as well as the company’s history and its strategies in diversifying and expanding its business into international markets.

The Qingdao Binhai University also welcomed us to tour its facility. While at Qingdao Binhai University, we took a painting class, attended presentations illustrating Chinese culture, and even engaged in a friendly sports game with the university’s students.

Our group was also able to enjoy a variety of cultural expeditions while traveling in China, such as Tsingtao Beer Museum, St. Michael’s Cathedral, and the May Fourth Square, and practice our negotiation skills in Taidong Night Market by bargaining with local sellers. We also had visited many other places that carry strong Chinese cultures such as the Great Wall, Hutong Tour, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven.

After the study tour was completed I extended my trip to visit some other cities in China, Japan, and India for another month. Exibir menos

Once I moved to the U.S., I noticed that these snacks and dishes were difficult to find easily. It was then that I began devolving my company, intending to bring some of the most popular snacks from home and introduce them to the international food market in the United States.

I partnered with a good friend from the same hometown as me and we began working on the product, packaging, market research, and forecast for investment to participate in the 2019 Bullring Competition hosted by CSUN to compete with other start-up business ideas within the school.

I learned how to pitch my idea to potential investors and outstand competitors through highlighting the key differentiators of my business plan. I also gained valuable experience communicating with professional mentors and leading a team.
