GrandBridge Energy strongly believes in supporting healthcare in our communities. In 2023, we made a $25,000 commitment over five years to the Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation to support the renovations at the Brantford General Hospital Emergency Department, including the purchase of a new $2 million CT scanner. Our President & CEO, Sarah Hughes, and Sheri Ojero, CCMP, Manager of Corporate Communications, were humbled to tour BGH and get an up-close look at the new CT scanner - one of the most frequently used pieces of equipment at the BCHS. The new scanner, in operation since July 2023, was made possible thanks to generous community donations through the BCHS Foundation. It was so rewarding to meet the hospital staff, recognize the life-saving work that they do and hear firsthand the vital importance of this diagnostic equipment. Thank you, Kari Wilson, Executive Director BCHS Foundation, Dr. Angela Fleming, Chief and Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Dr. Anirudh Goel, Chief of Staff/VP Medical Affairs, Bonnie Camm, BCHS President & CEO, and Julie Childerhose, Director Medical Imaging. The Diagnostic Imaging department at the BCHS is one of the busiest in the region, operating 24/7 and performing 50,000 CT scans every year. Prior to the new CT scanner, BCHS was relying on one scanner that was installed in 2010 and is nearing the end of life. A strong healthcare system outfitted with the necessary equipment is critical for our community. GrandBridge Energy is proud of its gifting agreements with the BCHS Foundation and Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation in support of our Strategic Goal to Enable Community Ambitions. Supporting local healthcare and powering their essential equipment is a shining example of the #PowerofLocalHydro. • In March of this year, Bonnie Camm joined the Brant Community Healthcare System (Brantford General Hospital and Willett Hospital in Paris) as President & CEO. “It has been a remarkably busy couple of months meeting with so many people. And at the same time, urgent issues including a sink hole at the BGH main entrance and having to install temporary boilers on top the parking garage have arisen that are not lost on me,” Camm said. Similar to all hospitals throughout Ontario, emergency departments continue to experience significant pressures. Bonnie and the BCHS Senior Leadership Team also continue work towards the redevelopment of our two hospitals, meeting with Infrastructure Ontario and the Capital Branch of The Ministry of Health. “Together we will navigate the challenges to ensure a healthier future for all of us.” 📰 Read the full Hospital Insider article 🔗 https://shorturl.at/XHyyD

“Everyone needs to do their bit to make sure Brantford gets the new hospital it needs and deserves,” Mayor Kevin Davis City of Brantford. The Mayor delivered comments about BCHS’s vitally important hospital redevelopment project at the Chamber of Commerce Brantford Brant Mayor’s Breakfast on June 26th. BCHS continues to meet with the Ministry of Health and Infrastructure Ontario throughout the summer to get the required support to redevelop its two hospital facilities, Brantford General Hospital and The Willett Hospital, Paris. Community support is key to our #partnership to achieving approvals from the Provincial Government. #ThankYou Mayor Davis. “We have to do this together.” Reimagine BCHS: Exceptional Care, Exceptional People, Exceptional Future! 📣 Read the full article by The Brantford Expositor: https://lnkd.in/emfu2G-N #Hospitals #Ontario #TeamWork #ReimagineBCHS Will Bouma, Ontario Hospital Association, Sylvia Jones, Peter Bethlenfalvy, Michael Sullivan, Rose Sicoli, Gino Caputo, Linda Hunt, Richard Carpenter. • Yesterday, staff, professional staff, volunteers, leaders, and community members joined together to close our Indigenous History Month celebrations at BCHS. This moving event featured song and performance from Elaine Lee, a community helper, drum carrier and knowledge keeper, and powerful remarks from Ms. Maggie Copeland and Dr. Karen Hill. We reflected on the painful history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the challenges that many communities still face, and we reaffirmed our commitment as an organization and as individuals to do our part to foster equality. As this month concludes, we leave you with a challenge issued by Dr. Anirudh Goel, Chief of Staff and Vice President Medical & Academic Affairs: to deepen your understanding of the Indigenous communities we serve and their rich histories. This knowledge is vital for healthcare providers because it enhances cultural competence, improves health outcomes, and strengthens trust between providers and Indigenous patients. It allows us to deliver care that respects and aligns with their cultural beliefs and holistic views of health.

  • At BCHS, we are dedicated to fostering a safe environment for our colleagues, patients, and community, promoting inclusivity in every aspect of our interactions. In this spirit we are pleased to share that starting this month, pronoun identification buttons have been made available to staff, professional staff, and volunteers. Understanding and respecting a person’s pronouns is a simple yet meaningful way to affirm their identity and contribute to a supportive environment where individuals can express themselves authentically. By making pronoun identification easier, we hope to create a space where everyone feels respected, valued, and safe.

  • Thank you City of Brantford Councillors for the opportunity to provide an update on our community’s vitally important Redevelopment Project. On behalf of all Brant Community Healthcare System’s (BCHS) employees, professional staff and volunteers, we are so appreciative to the City for your generous contribution of $15.1M dollars set aside in the Hospital Reserve Fund over 13 months, and for your partnership and agreement to donate the parking lot and fire hall in the future, which are critical for this project's envisioned success. BCHS has long recognized the importance to redevelop its two hospital facilities, Brantford General Hospital and The Willett Hospital, Paris, to meet the growing needs of our community and provide modern facilities as our dedicated health care professionals support the medical needs of residents.
