Accelerating a Net-Zero Future

About us

We pioneered the use of streaming transactions, a proven and flexible funding model, to scale high-integrity carbon credit projects to accelerate global climate action and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This approach aligns our strategic interests with those of project partners to create long-term relationships built on a shared commitment to sustainability and accountability and positions us as a trusted source for buyers seeking high-quality carbon credits. Our focus is on projects that have a positive impact on the environment, local communities and biodiversity, in addition to their carbon reduction or removal potential. We have carbon credit streams and royalties related to over 20 projects around the world, including projects focused on nature-based solutions, the distribution of fuel-efficient cookstoves and water filtration devices, waste avoidance and energy efficiency, methane avoidance in agriculture and biochar carbon removal.

  • Carbon Streaming is proud to have been a part of one of the largest carbon removal deals to date with Microsoft, who has been blazing the trail for all carbon buyers, demonstrating the strongest due diligence and rigour in their carbon credit buying practices as highlighted in this article from GreenBiz Group on the Azuero Restoration Project in Panama. The project will replant 75 native species, expanding habitat for endangered species such as the Azuero spider monkey. Over 100 local landowners will have the opportunity to participate in the project and receive compensation from its hybrid payment system, which combines both regular land-lease payments and a percentage of future #carboncredit sales. Annie Guo, Nature-based Solutions Lead, Carbon Removal at Microsoft will be joining us later this month on June 25th for a webinar on "Unlocking Impact: Key Considerations for Purchasing Carbon Credits to Maximize Community Engagement". Congratulations to our project partner UpEnergy for achieving SD VISta Verra Certification for their Fuel-Efficient Cookstove Project in Tanzania. We are pleased to see this project recognized for its positive social impact alongside its climate mitigation benefits. Earlier this year, UpEnergy announced that this project is authorized for corresponding adjustments under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This is a great example of the type of high-integrity carbon projects sought by corporate buyers that we help finance. Later this month on June 25th, Matt Evans, Board Chair of UpEnergy will be joining us for a webinar titled "Unlocking Impact: Key Considerations for Purchasing Carbon Credits to Maximize Community Engagement." UpEnergy Achieves Historic SD VISta VERRA Certification for Tanzania Fuel-Efficient Cookstove Project, Setting a New Standard in East Africa. UpEnergy is proud to announce the first SD VISta Verra Issuance for our Fuel-Efficient Cookstove Project in Tanzania. This milestone follows our recent announcement of Tanzania’s first Article 6 authorization and makes us the first in East Africa and the second cookstove project developer globally to achieve SD VISta certification. In the absence of affordable or accessible alternatives, families often rely on biomass based cooking fuels like charcoal, which are costly and time-consuming. Our fuel-efficient cookstove project not only contributes to decarbonization by reducing charcoal needs within households but also brings multiple co-benefits, including financial savings and freeing up cooking time for more productive use. Through the rigorous SD VISta certification process, we have successfully demonstrated and labeled these significant impacts continuing our fight against energy poverty and climate change with projects and technology that benefit those most vulnerable to climate risks. This week, the US government issued a joint policy statement acknowledging the crucial role voluntary carbon markets (VCM) play in facilitating decarbonization and channeling private capital to drive large-scale climate action today, including nature-based solutions and innovative technologies for carbon removal.   We support their “Principles for Responsible Participation in Voluntary Carbon Markets,” which emphasize the need for integrity in carbon credit supply and demand and the market. Increased transparency and integrity are essential for scaling the VCM and ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all participants.   At Carbon Streaming, we are committed to funding carbon projects that meet high integrity standards and deliver real and quantifiable emission reductions and removals. We undertake meticulous due diligence on our investments and offer full public disclosure of material information and timely updates on project developments. Carbon credit buyers can trust in the integrity of our credits and track how their support is driving tangible impact at each project.   Together, we can drive meaningful climate action and accelerate a net-zero future. • ICYMI: Last week, Carbon Streaming announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Microsoft, Rubicon Carbon, and Ponterra on one of the largest nature-based carbon removal deals to date. This innovative project aims to restore 10,000 hectares on the Azuero Peninsula in Panama, which was previously degraded by low-density cattle ranchland, with more than 75 native tree species. Local landholders will benefit by earning an income through long-term annual payments and a share of carbon credit sales. Microsoft has also entered into an offtake agreement with Carbon Streaming to purchase 100% of our credits from the project through 2040. This marks the second multi-year offtake that Carbon Streaming has signed with Microsoft in the last year. At Carbon Streaming, we invest our own capital in every carbon credit project we represent, tying our financial success and corporate reputation to the success of each project. Our stake in the outcome of these projects, along with the rigorous due diligence we undertake, helps provide credit buyers with unmatched confidence in the integrity of their credit purchase. We are thrilled to announce that Mast, in collaboration with Carbon Lockdown , has won a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Carbon Dioxide Removal Purchase Pilot Prize! Together, we will develop a Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) project in Montana, burying dead burnt trees from our post-fire reforestation project sites in an oxygen-deficient vault. This prevents wood decomposition and sequesters carbon for centuries. It also reduces future fire risk as burnt logs can be a source of fuel for wildfires. Winning this Phase I prize opens the door to Phase II and III, which offer not only prizes in the millions of dollars but also full purchase agreements for BiCRS carbon removal credits. We are excited to continue through this process and aim to sequester ~17,000 tonnes of CO2 by the end of 2025. This announcement follows closely behind recent investments in the carbon sector from prominent tech companies. We are pleased to see corporate leaders continuing their commitment to nature-based carbon removal solutions. 🌲 “Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Salesforce pledge to contract for up to 20M tons of high-quality nature-based carbon removal credits by 2030” (https://lnkd.in/eHZPCg74) 🌲 “Carbon Streaming Announces Landmark Reforestation Project With Rubicon Carbon & Microsoft“ (https://lnkd.in/gvQsEDK6) Congrats to the other finalists and to our dedicated team and partners for their hard work and commitment! https://lnkd.in/ePXXMVGQ

Today, Carbon Streaming is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with Microsoft, Rubicon Carbon and Ponterra on one of the largest nature-based carbon removal deals to date. Pontera aims to restore 10,000 hectares of tropical forest on the Azuero Peninsula in Panama by planting over 75 native tree species using a vertically integrated reforestation strategy, including nurseries, seed banks, and deep community involvement. The project is expected to remove approximately 3.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent over its life and will enable local landholders to earn an income through long-term annual payments and a share of #carboncredit sales. We are also pleased to announce that Microsoft has entered into an offtake agreement with Carbon Streaming to purchase 100% of our credits from the project through 2040. Plus, we will act as the sole marketer of carbon credits from the project that are not already committed to the co-investors. The Azuero Reforestation project exemplifies the high-integrity carbon projects sought and financed by Carbon Streaming, and we are excited to be a part of this project along with esteemed co-investors and a leading project developer. • We are thrilled to share this inspiring video from NBC Bay Area shedding light on the impactful work of Mast Reforestation at the Feather River Reforestation project in California.   In today's climate reality, forests burn rapidly and so intensely that their natural ability to regenerate is vastly diminished. That's where Mast Reforestation steps in, combining proven reforestation practices with new technology to regrow healthy, resilient, climate-adapted forests on burned acres.   As highlighted in the video, none of this would be achievable without the vital support from voluntary carbon credits. At Carbon Streaming, we invest in high quality carbon projects, like Feather River, that are critical in the fight against climate change but would not be possible without the financing provided by carbon credits.   Watch the video to learn more about the work of Mast Reforestation to create a greener planet: https://lnkd.in/d6E-57Fh   #Reforestation #ClimateAction #Sustainability #CarbonCredits
