Christmas has come early for crew chief Jason. There's nothing like unwrapping 6 new MTU5Cs.
The world leader in magnetotellurics geophysics instrumentation, Phoenix systems are used by contractors, universities and government agencies in over 100 countries for exploration and research. We’ve been in Toronto designing and building intrumentation since 1975, have 50 people on our team, speak a dozen languages in our office, and work all over the world.

If you're curious about the effects of this weekends geomagnetic storms on Magnetotellurics data collection, see below from our MT Survey in Nevada. Although telluric events can negatively impact other geophysical methods, It is generally a great time to collect MT! #Magnetotellurics #KLMGeoscience #PhoenixGeophysics #Nevada #Lithium #Geothermal #Northernlights
#EMpower v2.22 and MTU-5C/8A Firmware v2.22 is here! https://lnkd.in/gAmnUYAD EMpower v2.22 and receiver Firmware v2.22 bring new features including: *displaying XX and YY curves of MT data * Synchronized time series viewing of channel data from different receivers * New exporters for CSAMT data, and improved CSAMT user experience * Capability to work in locations with extreme magnetic declination values such as polar regions * Support for our latest MTU-5C hardware model RMT03-L Firmware v2.22 is freely available to all users, and may be installed on all MTU-5C, MTU-8A, and RXU-8A systems. Receivers and data created by systems with Firmware v1 are fully supported by EMpower v2. Likewise, remote reference processing in EMpower v2 can combine recordings from receivers having Firmware v1 with those having Firmware v2. Note: systems running firmware v2.22 require EMpower 2.22 or higher to manage their time series output. #geophysics #magnetotellurics #geoscience #mining #geothermal #exploration #torontotech
A big welcome to Arce Geofisicos! MTU-5C No. 500 is about to begin a great adventure. Well done, Carlos, and congratulations to everyone who designed, assembled, and tested the world-leading MT systems our users rely on every day.
Closing business with my friend Pepo Arce from Arce Geofisicos during PDAC 2024, with this deal Phoenix Geophysics Ltd. manages to achieve the sale of its 500xMTU-5C system worldwide. Congratulations 👍 👏

I've just hit the half way point on my Antarctic summer. We're here to investigate the Denman Glacier, which is one of the fastest flowing and most rapidly retreating glaciers in East Antarctica. I'm doing MT to look at the shape and depth of the trough and image any basal melt and underlying groundwater systems. We're also looking deeper in the earth to constrain mantle viscosity for isostatic adjustment and ice loss models. This is a big, multi-disciplinary deep field campaign run through the Australian Antarctic Division. I'm part of the ARC Australian Centre for Excellence in Antarctic Science and we have other team members here doing seismics, gravity, ice drilling, radar, geology and oceanography - everyone squeezing as much data out of this opportunity as possible! Thanks also to AuScope for funding for our GRIT MT instruments from Phoenix Geophysics designed to be used on ice, which are working great.

Research Geophysicist position in USGS Geomagnetism Program The USGS Geomagnetism Program seeks to hire a full-time Research Geophysicist to improve monitoring, assessment, and mitigation capabilities related to ground-level space weather hazards. There is an emphasis on strong geomagnetic disturbances (GMD), magnetotellurically (MT) derived ground electrical conductivity structure, and/or resultant geomagnetically induced currents (GIC) in technological infrastructure. The successful candidate will: Perform quantitative analysis of geophysical data, specifically time-series analysis, geospatial analysis, statistical analysis, and modern numerical methods. Manage targeted research projects, including planning, defining scope, conducting and documenting the research, and timely completion. Communicate research results and interpretation to colleagues, non-scientists, and the general public. Applications are through USAJobs, and vacancy announcement(s) open from December 18th, 2023, through January 19th, 2024. Please choose the most appropriate vacancy below, and be sure to include all transcripts with your application.
