Almost three years have passed since the launch of the Canada Plastics Pact (CPP), and it was with great excitement that we hosted our second in-person Partners' Summit on November 8, 2023! 🙌
🔄 A wide range of stakeholders, including resin producers, manufacturers, retailers, government representatives, recyclers, NGOs, and others, gathered with a shared vision of advancing a circular plastics economy in Canada. The Summit was an opportunity for CPP Partners to get inspired, learn from one another, and forge critical partnerships to accelerate action.
A big thank you to our speakers for shedding light on some timely topics:
💡 Charles David Mathieu-Poulin & Sam Baker on the collaboration of circularity leaders (#PRFLEX) to revolutionize the recycling system for flexible packaging in Canada.
💡 Marie-Anne Champoux-Guimond & Pierre Benabidès on traceability for food-grade recycled resin.
💡Michael Wasserman on modelling solutions to increasing recycled content.
💡Anna Rajkovic & paul tas on the solutions, opportunities and applicability around mechanical and advanced recycling.
💡Daniel Duguay on the groundbreaking sustainability work in produce packaging.
💭 For decades, plastic has been celebrated for its versatility, affordability, and convenience, offering simple solutions from packaging to transportation to consumer goods. But as landfills and the environment became increasingly burdened by its waste, it became evident that a solution was necessary. Now, within the CPP, it's our shared mission to turn plastic into a sustainable resource that stays in the economy and out of people, animals, and the environment.
🚀 As we move forward on this path, we continue to build on the foundation established and scale our efforts. Thank you to all our CPP Partners for being trailblazers and accelerating much-needed action to eliminate plastic waste in Canada.
🙏 We’d also like to extend a special thank you to PAC Global for hosting this year’s Summit at #packexpo.
