“I worked with Eddie Kim for about a year at Cohere, where he headed up the exploratory project area setting up Cohere's Conversational AI capabilities (pre-ChatGPT!). I hired him, and watched him grow a substantial team and organise it under his leadership. As both a thought leader and a poeople leader, Eddie is a magician. He built up a unique, functional (and fun!) culture within his team, which permeated throughout Cohere. He set the gold standard of how to get members of technical staff from distributed geographical locations (from Brazil to Singapore via Toronto and London) and mixed seniority (from recent grads to post-PhD researchers) to collaborate, cooperate, and stay in sync despite the communication challenges such arrangements present. I think it is safe to say that Eddie played a central and instrumental part of shaping Cohere's current conversational techology, roadmap, and vision. He was (and remains) a pleasure to interact with, work with, and just chat to. I have no doubt Eddie will go far, and will continue to observe his career progress with great interest.”
