Congratulations to WSP’s digital team in Australia for their pioneering project’s recent Technology & Digital Innovation Award from the Planning Institute of Australia. The project in question, Land iQ was acknowledged for it’s impact in supporting the New South Wales State Government to deliver better planning practice and outcomes. WSP, in collaboration with our partners at Giraffe Technology and Aerometrex, developed the digital tool for Property and Development NSW, with a vision to make it available across multiple government departments. The tool demonstrated its effectiveness in 2022 during a major flooding event in Northern NSW by aiding in the identification of suitable land for emergency accommodation and redevelopment. Land iQ considers land zoning, flood and bushfire risks, biodiversity values, and alignment with government plans, promoting resilient and strategic planning for positive environmental and social outcomes.
