 The spring semester of Code Academy for Kids at MSD Czech Republic has come to a successful close! 🎉 Over the past 10 weeks, our employees' children learned the basics of the Scratch programming language, thanks to our incredible software engineers. It's been amazing to witness their growth and passion for coding. At our company, we're committed to nurturing the next generation of tech-savvy individuals. Our Code Academy for Kids program empowers children with coding skills while fostering creativity and problem-solving abilities. 💡 Thank you, Ľubomíra Nemčovská, for managing the academy and making so many children happy. A big thank you to our dedicated software engineers, especially our main lecturer Barbora Kolomazníková, who volunteered their expertise to make this program a success. Thanks to the Next Gen Network EBRG, our employees had an extraordinary opportunity to combine technology with a volunteering initiative at the Center for Active Old Age in ŽIVOT 90 MSD employees spent time with Prague's seniors, assisting them in understanding and operating their technical devices like smartphones and laptops, which traditionally tend to remain a challenge for most in this age group. “The smiles of accomplishment that lit up the faces of the people were indeed a heartwarming sight. I was equally inspired when I heard the life stories these seniors had. For example, there was a 93-year-old lady whose tech savviness would be on par with people two generations younger,” says Ludvík Hasal one of the volunteers. We thank everyone who participated and helped make this event a grand success, allowing us to nurture empathy, understanding, and mutual support that bridge generational differences. Here's to many more such opportunities to learn from and grow with each other.

We are pleased to announce that this year we provided our employees with the unique opportunity to connect beyond regular cooperation. IT employees from MSD had the chance to apply for a rotational program spanning multiple countries. “We believe that staying in different locations fosters mutual learning, knowledge sharing, and relationship building, as well as enhances cultural sensitivity and awareness,” says Nikola Nováková, Senior Specialist,Talent Management. Participants in the program will work intensively on specific projects and will spend three weeks at the selected location. Since 2022, our Women's Network EBRG has been running the Parents Community, which focuses on providing a space for parents and parents-to-be. The community's goal is to facilitate the sharing of tips and insights on work-life balance and career development, which can be particularly valuable for part-time working colleagues. In the last quarter, the Parents Community organized various events, such as internal meetups for parents in the Prague offices, a get-together meetup for parents on leave and their children, and a First Aid Course for Kids Event aimed at teaching essential first aid skills to children. These events offered opportunities for networking, staying updated with the Parents community, and reconnecting with the work world for parents on leave. #MSDPlaceToBe #MSDParents

While melanoma cannot be entirely prevented, there are effective ways to lower your risk, and the number one is protection against UV rays. Here are some tips: ☂️ UV exposure is highest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. - seek shade during these peak hours. 👒 Wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face, top of the head, ears, and neck. 👚 Choose clothing with a tight knit or weave and avoid shirts that you can see through. 🧴 During extended outdoor activities, use a water-resistant, broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+). 👓 Don't forget to wear sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays, safeguarding both your vision and the skin surrounding your eyes.   The League of Employees of African Descent EBRG organized an exciting AFRICA DAY event on June 12th at the Riverview Building. The aim of the event was to celebrate this memorable date with a variety of engaging activities that highlighted the rich diversity and cultural heritage of Africa. Participants enjoyed different games including geography quizzes that tested their knowledge about African countries, languages, and landmarks.   Language games offered a fun way to explore the myriad of languages spoken across the continent, while dance competitions showcased traditional and contemporary African dance styles, filling the venue with vibrant energy. Cultural activities allowed attendees to immerse themselves in the customs and traditions from various African regions. One of the event's highlights was the opportunity for employees to try their hand at playing African drums. This interactive drumming session provided a hands-on experience with traditional African rhythms.   The AFRICA DAY event was a resounding success, providing a platform for employees to connect, learn, and celebrate their shared heritage in a lively and inclusive atmosphere.
