Exceptional founders with world-changing ideas are hard to find. 🔎 Luckily, we are quite good at finding them! The question is, how can we help them to create unicorns? 🫂 Two words: Ecosystem and Education. The EWOR ecosystem is a collection of like-minded individuals, from investors through to operators through to founders, actively helping one another to change the world. Education (and cross-mentorship) is at the heart of the EWOR ecosystem. It is the glue that connects visions with realities. 🚀 With immense pride, we are excited to share our revamped Founder’s Resources which have been created by our leadership team, a group of former unicorn founders. Why share these resources with everyone? We are not about gatekeeping. We believe that it is immensely useful for all early founders to receive free, foundational support. 📄 Our resources include templates for financial modelling, legal contracts and pitching. 📈 More actively, we have compiled search matrixes for co-founders and grant opportunities, as well as personal development quizzes and a productivity bible. Meet our fellow, Mark Golab. 🌍 Mark’s story embodies the EWOR mission: use extraordinary talent to change the world. All the way back in 2014, he was selected by DEVELOP3D as one of the seven best British graduate designers of the year. 📄 His master’s thesis focused on the implementation of wearable technology within spinal surgery. He was awarded with a distinction and he published a paper in the European Spine Journal. 🤖 In 2017, he was awarded a £100,000 grant to research an integrated robotic system for PepsiCo Europe. In the same year, he exhibited a spinal surgery robot (the ScoliBOT) at the The Royal College of Surgeons of England. 👨⚕️In 2023, he finished his PhD in Ultra Precision Engineering at the University of Cambridge. In the same year, he co-founded Cambridge Surgical Models, a start-up which won the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs competition, netting a £20,000 grant. Now, together with his co-founders, Dr. Senthooran K. and Dr Sam M., Mark is building the next generation of artificial anatomical models for surgical training. 🚀 Earlier this year, his venture was named as one of the med-tech startups to watch by cofinitive! What do national kickboxing championships, cybersecurity and blockchain hackathons have in common? Our fellow, Jeevan Jutla. 🧑💻By age 16, Jeevan was already working as a full-stack software engineer for numerous SaaS start-ups. 🥊By age 17, he was coaching kickboxing across the UK and he won a national middleweight championship. 🤖 By age 19, whilst at university, he worked as a security researcher at the National Cyber Security Centre. He also established and scaled King's College London’s Cybersecurity Society to over 600 members. 🏆By age 20, Jeevan was a serial hackathon champion, collecting over $50,000 in winnings and earning a top 500 ranking for CTFs. 👷♂️ A true builder, Jeevan has developed an AR app (winning him the Tezos Blockchain Hackathon), a seizure detection app (winning him ICHack23) and a decentralised IOS app (winning him the ImmutableX Blockchain Hackathon). Now, leveraging his wide industry experience, including a year on the red team at Binance, Jeevan is working on a full-scale venture with EWOR. We suppose his story makes sense: MMA is notoriously akin to solving puzzles, representing a physical manifestation of Jeevan’s widely recognised problem-solving skills in cybersecurity and hackathons. 🚀Jeevan’s journey is a testament to the combined power of sheer discipline, raw intelligence and a relentless pursuit of excellence, a combination we strive to replicate over and over again at EWOR. What’s the most special thing about EWOR? Is it that our fellows are some of the brightest and most exciting founders around? Partly, but there’s more to the story. 🫂 We have an incredible ecosystem of co-investors who support us and our fellows. And today, we want to give two of them a shoutout: Leon Szeli and Johannis Hatt. 🎯 Leon founded Presize (acq. by Meta). It was then acquired by Meta where he is now a leading product manager. He has recently become an avid angel investor. 🎯 Johannis founded Productsup and scaled it to 25m ARR. He went on to become a serial investor with over a decade of experience and 70+ investments. 🚀 Together with these proven-builders-turned-angels, we have co-invested in over 10 companies built by EWOR fellows, including: Composo, Spherecast (YC S24), OriginAI, Flow.bio and Creable. 🫂 We are incredibly proud of our ecosystem. Meet EWOR Fellow, Max Osborne. 🏂 By age 16, Max was a qualified snowboard instructor who travelled the world for competitions. 🏫 By age 22, Max had two masters degrees (in Mathematics and Data Science) from The University of Edinburgh. He won two British Snowboarding Championships whilst he studied. 🧑🔬 By age 24, Max had founded ThisThat. He proposed a research program in support of his venture. He then supervised MSc Computer Science students at University Edinburgh on said research. 🚀Now, with companies like Meta, Google, Visa, Unilever, The Walt Disney Company, and Roblox as early adopters, ThisThat is becoming the new gold standard for influencer marketing measurement. Via EWOR, and following an extremely impressive growth in run rate (from £180k in 2022 to a £3.3M in 2023), Max has just raised a round from 4 unicorn founders! 🔎 We are always looking for fellows like Max to join our community. Meet our Fellow, Piers MacNaughton, ScD. ☕Piers started his entrepreneurial journey in high school. He launched an on-campus café that thrived for 15 years after he graduated. 🧑🔬 He then completed his PhD at Harvard University. Together with a world-class team in the Harvard Healthy Buildings Program, he demonstrated the impact of CO2 and other gases on cognitive performance at levels found in most buildings. 👏 This research has been cited over 1500 times in the past 5 years and has been featured in major publications such as The New York Times and the The Washington Post. A summary of his dissertation work can be found here: https://lnkd.in/e4j62jxv 🏆In addition to his academic achievements, Piers has won 2 ultimate frisbee national championships. His team overcame 8 consecutive years of losses in the semis and the finals before securing the title. 🗻 On the day he turned 10,000 days old, Piers climbed 10,000 feet on Mt. Whitney in one day. He has hiked all 47 peaks over 4,000 ft in the Adirondack Mountain Range, including Mt. MacNaughton (😉).
