Paradise Perfected

Info

Situated between Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain and their stunning landscapes, the Town of Paradise Valley is nestled between Phoenix and Scottsdale in the heart of the Valley of the Sun. The Town encompasses 16.5 square miles and, as of the 2010 census, was home to approximately 13,000 residents living in approximately 5,600 households. Today, and throughout the Town's history, residents remain committed to the original vision: preserving and maintaining quiet surroundings, open space, and privacy - as evidenced in the Town's 2012 General Plan. The General Plan was passed with over 80% of the vote, representing remarkable political harmony among citizens and leadership about the direction of the Town. It follows that the Town has a reputation as being one of the most pleasing and desirable communities in the nation due to the natural beauty of the desert and the surrounding hillsides and mountains, its emphasis on safety and privacy, and providing residents and resort visitors with open space and a very special place to visit or reside – which includes a resident population with an overall reputation of friendliness, sophistication, and civility.

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the loss of former Paradise Valley Police Chief John Wintersteen, a beloved figure in our community. Chief Wintersteen died alongside another community member on Sunday night as they attempted to help an injured animal in the roadway. After three decades serving our nation in the U.S. Marine Corps, Chief Wintersteen joined the Paradise Valley Police Department in June of 1995, where he served our community in the roles of Chief, Director of Public Safety, Town Marshal, and Director of Emergency Management for 14 years. Paradise Valley Mayor Jerry Bien-Willner said, “Our hearts are broken. John Wintersteen lived a life of true service and care for others. His positive contributions to our nation and our community are immeasurable. He will be deeply missed.” After serving as our Chief, he volunteered with a wide array of organizations helping those close to home and around the world. Most recently, Chief Wintersteen co-chaired and organized this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Paradise Valley – an event he helped start in the Town 26 years ago. Chief Wintersteen lived a life of dedicated service, and the Town of Paradise Valley is stronger because of his meaningful and abundant contributions. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, his many friends and all who knew Chief Wintersteen.

It is in sadness that we recognize the passing of the first woman U.S. Supreme Court justice, an iconic trailblazer and the “founding mother” of our town of Paradise Valley Arizona – Sandra Day O’Connor.   Justice O’Connor was a force of nature. Volumes have and will continue to be written about her work in the corridors of power – but many in Paradise Valley will remember her as a neighbor, a savvy bridge player, and a friend. https://lnkd.in/gYcpCgyK
