We will WIN the FIGHT against CANCER!!!
Sobre nosotros
Universal Diagnostics S.A. (UDX) is a Spanish in-vitro diagnostics company developing a platform of minimally-invasive, blood-based solutions for detecting cancer early when treatment options are more plentiful and survival rates are still high. UDX believes that the best way to fight against cancer is by detecting it early. The UDX diagnostic platform is designed to detect various cancer types, e.g. colorectal, liver, pancreatic, lung, and gastric cancer via one simple blood test. The assays rely on a curated set of proprietary methylation marker panels; a simple blood sample collected as part of a routine check-up, can be processed at a reference laboratory or hospital using standard equipment and then uploaded to the UDX Cloud for final algorithmic analysis. UDX’s first marker panel is a colorectal cancer screening test. The test identifies individuals who need to be referred for colonoscopy. Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most frequent cancer and 2nd deadliest cancer worldwide. The challenge is that colorectal cancer is mostly detected in late stages, with significantly decreased survival rates (11% survival rate in stage IV vs. 85% survival rate in stage I). To develop the test and execute its R&D and operations, UDX partners with international research institutions, hospitals, universities, and biobanks around the globe. To date, UDX has raised €25 million, ~80% from private investors and ~20% from public sources.

🎗️ February is Cancer Prevention Month! 🎗️ This February, let's take proactive steps to safeguard our health against cancer risks. Here are some simple adjustments you can make to your daily routine: 🌞 Limit UV ray exposure: Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by using sunscreen, seeking shade during peak sun hours, and avoiding tanning beds. 🍏 Maintain a healthy weight: Obesity is linked to various cancers, including endometrial, breast, and colorectal cancers. Adopting a balanced diet and staying physically active can help you manage your weight effectively. 🚭 Quit smoking: Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke are leading causes of lung cancer. By quitting smoking and avoiding exposure to smoke, you can drastically reduce your risk. 💤 Prioritize quality sleep: Poor sleep habits have been associated with an increased risk of certain cancers. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to support your overall health. 💪 Stay physically active: Regular exercise not only helps manage weight but also reduces your risk of developing certain types of cancer. Incorporate at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise into your daily routine. Together, let's embrace these lifestyle changes and commit to a healthier, cancer-free future. Join us in spreading awareness and taking proactive steps toward prevention. #CancerPreventionMonth! 🌟 #HealthAwareness #EarlyDetection #WellnessRevolution #universalDX #cancerprevention

Universal Diagnostics S.A. announced substantial progress today on its mission to create a future where cancer is curable: #Strategic collaboration with Quest Diagnostics in the #US market #Initial closing of $70M Series B #Start of our FDA pivotal trial "PROMISE" to get Signal-C® approved Universal Diagnostics S.A. founder Juan Martinez-Barea: "Quest Diagnostics has the leading expertise in oncology and national scale to harness our Signal-C® technology to make it broadly accessible in the United States. At UDX, we believe that early detection is the key to create a future where cancer is curable. This collaboration will make it more likely that patients in the United States will, over time, have a convenient, quality and accessible option to screen for colorectal cancer." Quest Diagnostics Kristie Dolan, General Manager Oncology Franchise, adds: "Quest is continually exploring opportunities to serve large unmet clinical needs with new innovations, developed both organically and with third parties. UDX has created a promising method of screening for colorectal cancer with a simple blood test that includes the ability to detect advanced adenomas. We look forward to collaborating with UDX to bring this innovation to the large population of people in the U.S. who are eligible for colorectal cancer screening but currently fail to be screened given the inconvenience of conventional methods." November is #LungCancerAwarenessMonth. The campaign is promoted by a global community of cancer and health organizations, encouraging members of the public to seek medical advice if they may be experiencing symptoms. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. 🧑⚕️RISK FACTORS 1. Smoking: Cigarette smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer. 2. Exposure to radon gas, asbestos, and other carcinogens. 3. Secondhand Smoke: If you smoke around others, you increase their risk as well. 4. Personal or Family History of Lung Cancer. 5. Radiation Therapy to the Chest. 📒PREVENTION 1. Don’t smoke: Cigarette smoking causes about 80% to 90% of lung cancer deaths in the World. The most important thing you can do to prevent lung cancer is to not start smoking or to quit if you smoke. 2. Avoid secondhand smoke. Smoke from other people’s cigarettes, cigars, or pipes is called secondhand smoke. Make your home and car smoke-free. 3. Get your home tested for radon. 4. Be careful at work. Follow health and safety guidelines to avoid carcinogens. 5. Eat a healthy diet. A healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables may also help reduce your risk of lung cancer. However, any positive effect of fruits and vegetables on lung cancer risk would be much less than the increased risk from smoking. 🔬We will continue fighting against lung cancer by developing a liquid biopsy test that applies methylation biomarkers to detect it early. #WeWillWinTheFightAgainstCancer

Exciting News from Universal Diagnostics S.A. at ESMO - European Society for Medical Oncology 2023 Congress! Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a significant global health challenge, and it's our mission to make strides in understanding its complexities. At ESMO 2023, we presented groundbreaking research that sheds light on the intricacies of CRC and its precursor lesions. CRC ranks as the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Advanced stages of CRC have a dismal 15% 5-year survival rate while early stages offer a more hopeful 90% 5-year survival rate. A staggering 85% of colorectal cancers are thought to evolve from advanced precancerous lesions (APL). Our study delves into methylation, mutations, and copy-number alterations (CNAs) in CRC and APL. While these factors have been well-studied in CRC, APL remained relatively uncharted territory. 💡 Key Findings: 🧬 We identified 2003 unique hypermethylated differentially methylated regions (DMRs) specific to APL, distinguishing between histological subtypes without affecting NATs. 🌐 DMRs were widely distributed across the genome, with a significant concentration on chromosome 7. 📈 CNA signals were prevalent in TA or VA/TVA samples, with frequent occurrences in chromosomes 7, 12, 19, and 20. Notably, CRC I showed CNAs in chromosomes 7, 8, and 20, implying distinct processes in APL and CRC I progression. 🧪 Somatic mutation analysis revealed differences among histological subtypes, highlighting variations in enriched oncological pathways. 🔬 KEGG pathway analysis demonstrated significant enrichment in categories directly or indirectly linked to cancer, a promising lead for further research. This research pushes the boundaries in our understanding of colorectal cancer and APL, bringing us one step closer to improved diagnostics and treatments. Stay tuned for more exciting developments from Universal Diagnostics S.A. We are committed to advancing healthcare in early cancer detection through our research and only together we can make cancer a curable disease! #ESMO2023 #ColorectalCancer #CancerResearch #MedicalAdvancements #UniversalDiagnosticsSA #EarlyDetection #ColorectalCancerResearch #MedicalBreakthrough #CancerFighters
