🗣️“Our mantra is to combine growth and sustainability," says Javier Rodriguez Soler, Global Head of Sustainability and CIB at BBVA, in an interview where he addresses BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking's firm commitment to generating business through #sustainability. This commitment translates into concrete sustainable business objectives for 2018-2025, which have gone from an initial €100 billion to €300 billion following a second review. Proof of this is that, in 2023, we have channeled more than €70 billion into sustainable business, double the amount invested two years ago, and more than five times the amount invested five years ago. As Javier Rodriguez Soler rightly points out, "80% of our clients are already making progress in their sustainability plans" and at BBVA CIB we will continue working every day to be their strategic ally, offering them continuous support on their path towards a more sustainable business model. He also refers to the expansion plans at BBVA CIB, where we want to strengthen our presence in relevant wholesale markets where BBVA does not have a branch network for retail customers. "We’re talking about increasing the current weight of developed markets and countries with strong currencies, such as the US and the UK, though also ramping up our business in regions or countries such as Asia, Brazil and Chile", explains Javier Rodríguez Soler. Esta ha sido una de las conclusiones principales de la II Cumbre de Sostenibilidad de BBVA en México, donde Carlos Torres Vila, presidente de BBVA, ha hecho un llamamiento a los gobiernos a establecer metas ambiciosas que permitan a los bancos acompañar a la economía hacia un modelo más sostenible. En este contexto, Carlos Torres Vila ha anunciado la adhesión de BBVA al International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), una iniciativa global que promueve un estándar de reporting en #sostenibilidad, impulsando la transparencia y facilitando la toma de decisiones del sector financiero. Por su parte, Javier Rodriguez Soler, responsable global de Sostenibilidad y CIB de BBVA, junto a Mark Wiedman, director del Negocio de Clientes Globales de BlackRock, ha analizado las oportunidades de inversión sostenible en México. From Museo del Prado to Shanghai: a journey through time and art 🖼️ BBVA had the pleasure of organizing for it´s clients a special visit to the magnificent exhibition "Ages of Splendor: A History of Spain in the Museo del Prado" at the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) in Shanghai. Attendees enjoyed an exquisite afternoon cocktail with Spanish ham and flamenco on July 6th while exploring 70 masterpieces by nearly 50 remarkable artists, spanning from the 16th to the 20th centuries, including works by El Greco, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Murillo, Ribera, Goya, Fortuny and Sorolla, among others. The exhibition, co-organized by the Museo Nacional del Prado and the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP), shares the history and culture of Spain through some of the finest works in European art. Lei Li, FRM, @Yunni Yei Zou, our mission at BBVA is to support our Chinese clients in their global operations and international expansion, particularly in our footprint countries including Spain, Mexico, South America and Turkey.
