Amazon’s board includes an impressive array of directors, and scores high on gender equality, age dispersion, and board expertise. In addition to founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos and current CEO Andy Jassy, the longtime Amazon Web Services leader who succeeded Bezos in July 2021, the board includes former CEOs Indra Nooyi (Pepsi), Judith McGrath (MTV Networks), and Patricia Stonesifer (Martha’s Table, a nonprofit). Wendell Weeks, current CEO of Corning, is also on the board.

General (Retired) Keith Alexander, who headed the U.S. Cyber Command in the Obama administration and is a former director of the National Security Agency, joined the board in September 2020. Daniel P. Huttenlocher, dean of the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing, has been a director since September 2016.

Amazon’s growth as of late has been even better than expected; as of April 2022, its stock price was up 50% since the start of 2020. In March 2022, it closed the acquisition of the entertainment studio MGM, a move intended to support its content business. The company has also announced its first stock split since 1999, scheduled to take place in June 2022, which some analysts say will set the stock price up for future gains alongside the company’s significant growth.
