it looks like badly cropped image and text gets way too close it when you are using localisation that uses diacritic

I think perhaps ::before should be used instead of box-shadow for the border

I experimented with this a little bit and it doesn't seem to make much difference whether I use ::before or box-shadow. I agree that it looks a little pixelated, so I'll try some more things and see if anything helps.
