@andrewinc Thanks again for the PR, but I've been thinking more about this and have been leaning towards another direction.

I'd like to wait until we have all the infrastructure in place to perform asynchronous/batch uploads to help make a feature like this really be valuable. We've got a plan we're working on for the 2.0 release of the storage client. Once we've got some more concrete decisions in place, we can circle back here.
