This thread is just to keep track of what I'm planning to add, as well as any issues which come up. If you have any feature requests or bugs then feel free to comment here or open a new issue.

Short-term

  • Add commands for controlling scientific notebook.
  • Finish documenting LyX application control commands.
  • Bug - changing the pronunciation of a module currently causes some weird behaviour and errors. I have a fix under testing.
  • Improve error handling for TOML syntax errors.
  • Improve installation instructions, include "getting started" walk-through.

Long-term

  • Think about common operations which could be automated, for example the calculation of critical values for common distributions, insertion of standard theorems, etc.
  • Get hold of a copy of scientific notebook/workplace 6.0 and test for compatibility. If major changes are needed then this may require separate rules for each. Update:
    • In SN 5.5 it is possible to insert mathematical characters by holding control and typing out the LaTeX name. Unfortunately in 6.0 the creators have added other keyboard shortcuts which use the control key, so this method no longer works.
    • Supporting 6.0 will require creating an entirely new rule, utilising other keyboard shortcuts to insert characters.
  • Think about other academic-related software for which rules could be added. Zotero? Microsoft mathematics? SumatraPDF? Can fairly easily be done on request.
  • Work out how to push as much of this functionality upstream to Caster as possible.
  • Find as many MathTalk users as possible and persuade them to switch!
