enforce a left to right transition

Would like to enforce a left to right transition across segments. Is there a way to modify the underlying transition matrix?

I am not sure what you mean. The transition matrix is global, and all transitions are left-to-right in an HMM. Also, please note that this is a Bayesian model, so you would define a prior on the matrix, not the matrix itself. Could you please give me more specifics on what you're trying to do? Thanks :-)
