Last week, SVPH received its first medical supply delivery using drone technology. The future is closer than you think!!! We partnered with Apian and drone delivery company Wing for the trial. The pilot has started with 100 weekly flights and those behind the project said they are working closely with the Irish Aviation Authority to ensure the operations adhere to the regulator's standards. SVPH CEO, Brian Fitzgerald, said the trial would allow it to explore how integrating drone technology into its hospital can improve patient care, enhance supply chain management and enable it to operate more efficiently and sustainably. Congrats to the Supply Chain Team for leading the way on this 😀

St Vincent’s Private Hospital recently hosted a practice recognition, assessment and management workshop with over 100 of our nurses in attendance. Presentations were provided on cardiac arrests, management of a patient on telemetry; breathing & airway management; anaphylaxis management; neutropenic sepsis; blood transfusion safety and massive haemorrhage and safe preparation and patient handover prior to interventional procedures. The Department of Nutrition & Dietetics in SVPH held their 2024 Nutrition & Hydration day on the 21st May. The theme this year focused on Nutrition & Surgery. Nutrition plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes after surgery and has been shown to: · Decrease the risk of infection. · Maintain immune function. · Maintain Muscle Mass. · Protect skin integrity. · Improve Quality of Life. · Decrease the length of hospital stay. · Improve wound healing Key nutrients such as protein, energy, vitamin C, zinc and iron in addition to adequate fluid are essential for collagen synthesis, DNA replication and oxygenation of tissues for enhanced recovery after surgery. Yesterday St. Vincent's Private Hospital held its first Innovation and Learning Showcase Day. The Showcase Day was an opportunity for hospital staff to learn of some of the excellent projects and innovations taking place across the hospital. In total we had 30 posters on display representing a broad selection of hospital departments. Thank you to everyone who attended and a special thank you to the project teams who submitted posters for the day.
