The United States is experiencing a significant shortage of mental health care providers. Over 168 million Americans live in areas designated as Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas without sufficient access to mental health services. This shortage is particularly severe in rural areas, with more than half of U.S. counties without a single psychiatrist! Initiatives such as integrating mental health services into primary care settings and promoting telemedicine programs are a start, but the demand for mental health services just continues to grow. Raising awareness and talking about this disparity is the first step to making sure that all Americans have access to the mental health support that they need!

Happy July 4th! As we celebrate today, let's extend our support and compassion to the brave and heroic veterans who have served our country. If you are celebrating with someone living with PTSD, consider these helpful tips: - Communicate: Have a conversation beforehand about their preferences and triggers. - Be Mindful of Fireworks: Loud noises and flashing lights can be triggering. - Plan Timing: If loud noises are a concern, confirm when fireworks begin in your town so you can head home. - Create Smaller Gatherings: Offer smaller, more intimate spaces so guests can avoid large groups if they wish. Together, we can support those with living with PTSD while enjoying this special occasion.

Recognizing PTSD in others can be challenging. In honor of PTSD Awareness Day, let's approach all conversations today with sensitivity and compassion: 🚫 Avoid minimizing other's experiences or pressuring them to talk. 🚫 Steer clear of blame, judgment, or comparisons. 🚫 Don't try to "fix" others; offer support instead. 🚫 Be mindful of triggers and avoid discussing sensitive topics.
