Thanks to the Rotary Club of Madras Temple City (RCMTC) for recognising the relentless hardwork and sincere commitment of our super inspiring young leaders - Saraniya P, Vehicle Director of Agnibaan SOrTeD and Umamaheswari K, Project Director of Mission-01, Agnibaan SOrTeD - by awarding them with the Rekha Shetty Memorial Award. RCMTC founded in July 1989, happens to be the first club outside of the North America to have had women charter members. The Rekha Shetty Memorial Award was constituted by RCMTC in memory of Rekha Shetty, a trailblazer and achiever who was an active Rotary all her life. The award is given to women who have done something exceptional that can inspire other women and young girls to achieve greater ambitions. Agnibaan SOrTeD was successfully flown on May 30, 2024 as a controlled vertical ascent flight from Sriharikota. Since a lot of people have been asking, releasing a quick rough cut video of the launch now. More videos will come in through the week. Mission -01 of Agnibaan SOrTeD was successfully accomplished from Agnikul Launch Pad in Sriharikota on May 30, 2024 at 0715 hours IST. The Agnibaan SOrTeD vehicle is powered by Agnikul's own patented single piece 3D printed semi cryo engine (Agnilet) and works on data acquisition systems and flight computers that were 100% designed in-house. It was a controlled ascent flight with full 3 axis control. The autopilot was fully developed and designed in-house too. The burn time lasted 65 seconds as expected. This mission has successfully achieved the following milestones 1. First-ever semi-cryo engine launch of India 2. First-ever launch from a private launchpad in India 3. First launch from India driven by computers working on Linux 4. First launch from India driven by an ethernet-based architecture for connecting flight computers within the vehicle 5. First flight with aviation-grade jet fuel and industrial-grade Liquid oxygen 6. Humbled to announce the successful completion of our first flight - Mission 01 of Agnibaan SOrTeD - from our own and India’s first & only private Launchpad within SDSC-SHAR at Sriharikota. All the mission objectives of this controlled vertical ascent flight were met and performance was nominal. The vehicle was completely designed in-house and was powered by the world’s first single piece 3d printed engine and also happens to be India’s first flight with a semi cryo engine. Our greatest thanks to IN-SPACe, ISRO, IIT Madras & our incredibly committed team in helping us prove that a private player can design and fly original space tech hardware in India. This engine test is powered by Agnikul's own data acquisition systems & flight computers that were 100% designed in-house. This test setup replicates the Agnibaan SOrTeD vehicle & Agnikul's launchpad at Sriharikota as they would be on the day of the launch. Moreover, this test also proves the capability of the entire avionics chain of the SOrTeD vehicle in controlling the entire propulsion system of the vehicle. Lastly, this test also runs the same Automated Launch Sequence (ALS), that we expect to run for SOrTeD's launch.
