Mumbai coastal road becomes a reality, to open for public today Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadvanis and Ajit Pawar inaugurated the Mumbai Coastal Road Project on Monday, 11 March 2024. HCC has built Package II of the Mumbai Coastal Road project from Baroda Palace to the Worli end of the existing Bandra Worli Sea Link.' Officially named Dharamveer Swaraj Rakshak Chhatrapati Shambaji Mumbai Coastal Road, the high-speed corridor is set to reduce the travel time between Worli and Marine Drive (9.5km) to under 10-minutes, which usually takes around 45 minutes during peak hours. Out of the 10.58 kilometres, 9.5 km has been opened, and the remaining section will open by May 2024. It includes launching the girders of a “bow-string” bridge that will connect the coastal road with Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL), leading to seamless transport from Marine Drive to the Bandra end of the sea link. Monday’s flagging-off ceremony was followed by a fleet of vintage cars, including Bentley, Mercedes, Chrysler Windsor, and Cadillac, which HCC Chairman Ajit Gulabchand flagged off. The BMC had also arranged 10-BEST air-conditioned double-decker buses that carried members from the indigenous Koli community and women from several self-help groups on the new road. #MumbaiCoastalRoad #HCC #BMC #NICMAR #infrastructure #EngineeringMarvel #engineering

The longest railway tunnel in the country, the 12.77 km long T50 tunnel partially constructed by HCC between Khari and Sumber stations on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today as he flagged off the first electrified trains of the Kashmir valley. Prime Minister Modi was present in Jammu, and he virtually flagged off two electrified trains simultaneously -- one from Srinagar to Sangaldan in the down direction and the other from Sangaldan to Srinagar in the up direction. The prime minister also inaugurated the 48.1-km-long Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section. #HCC #irconinternational #T49 #T50 #konkanrailway #NarendraModi #indianrailways #tunnel #JammuAndKashmir #srinagar
