I found a way to make SEO 3x more efficient. This helped drive organic growth to product companies that doubled their revenue & achieve unicorn status & beyond Want to know my secret? No this isn’t going to be a black-hat SEO trick up my sleeve Back in the day when I was full-time This brand followed a lean mode & focused a ton on shipping MVPs. Launching new features to acquire more customers & retain existing one This meant there were several product managers & PMM's working on different product roadmaps As the SEO team apart from doing SEO work One of my job responsibilities involved -> Attending a ton of internal meetings, -> Talking to product managers to better understand what are the next big bets that they are taking & getting an understanding of when these products/features would be released. The only time you can skip talking to customers/sales teams because product managers have this factored into their roadmaps. The SEO team instead of waiting for the product to be released & then come up with a discovery & acquisition strategy via search 💡 We would have started fleshing this out 6-12 months in advance All the content that needs to be created to gain ground would already be launched We were solving the “SEO takes time” problem in the most efficient way The marketing team & product teams very well understood the value of time & compounding effects. How does this look in action? 1. The product & growth teams use to spin out a quick landing page with the crudest MVP & build a waitlist to gain insight into demand & traction. 2. We would ensure this is well optimized from an SEO pov 3. We would start creating supporting content around these features that is actually helpful for users 4. Skip any CTA’s if we want to still keep something under the wraps. When the launch does happen, SEO is going to be a slacker PMMs & Product Managers cannot complain about $$$ kicking in slow We already would have captured a ton of relevant organic traffic that they can play with a) Leveraging SEO to its full potential b) Building an email list c) Retargeting warm traffic If you’d like to give this a shot Start justifying this with data around the missed growth or compound effect one could have had by starting earlier. Here are 15 steps to creating SaaS pages that convert if you don't have access/permission/time to do message validation research through new customer interviews. 1. Get alignment on the timeline, quality bar, and expectations 2. Nail down top 3 JTBD for each ICP and rank them by priority 3. Ask to review existing NPS surveys and sales calls with specific ICPs to collect customer insights and better respond to sales objections in your copy 4. Create 3 different page layouts and explain the pros and cons of each to decision makers 5. Make the hero section relatable, i.e. ensure that prospects immediately think "ok, this is for me" once they land on the page (btw, most people read through the first 20-30% of the page, which is why it's crucial to establish connection within the first couple of seconds) 6. Use adjectives to build upon the initial moment of recognition (e.g. if you have a product that targets marketers, saying "For marketing professionals" is less effective than "For savvy marketing professionals" or "For budget-conscious marketers", depending on your target audience) 7. Find customer testimonials that support the claim you're making in each of the three JTBD segments where you talk about problem > solution (it's far more effective to let customers speak on your behalf) 8. Do your due diligence before including logos or case studies (especially for enterprise-level customers, make sure you don't piss off legal) 9. Appeal to emotions, i.e. address both practical & personal benefits 10. If you have data that quantifies the business impact the software brings, make sure to include it (only if it's impressive, of course) 11. Sift through G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot reviews to analyze the sentiment around the product (look at competitors as well) and identify customer language 12. Use the exact wording of your happy customers (avoid jargon and don't try to be clever at the expense of clarity) 13. Make sure you have relevant CTAs strategically positioned throughout the page (stick to 1 or maximum 2 types of CTAs and use design to signal which is the primary action you want them to take) 14. Weave in product positioning in there for consistency (typically works best in the last CTA before the footer) 15. They want real meaningful insights, that are actionable They want to know you are taking care of their project from all lens Let me show you my process of how I uncover insights for my clients Some context: Organic traffic shot up by 30% they had an all-time high conversions clocked in their analytics, however they lost all of this traffic in a span of a week Upon digging I found 1. There was a news article released on a similar date when the traffic spiked where my client’s product was recommended 2. During the same time, I saw an influencer made a reel that spoke about the product that went viral & garnered 1.2M views on Instagram 3. Google trends showed a sharp surge for the number of people searching for the product. 4. When there were a spike in searches for the product our page which was ranking at position 9 shot up to 3 5. This got us over 2543 clicks from the product which resulted in 18% higher conversions 6. However the next day, once the surge in search for the query subsided. Our rankings have also gone back to its original position 9 & the no.of clicks is about 104/day at present 7. One of the primary reasons for our overall traffic to show a decline. If we exclude the traffic from this product page our overall traffic is stable & consistent. The Google search API leak is the most needed thing now for the SEO industry, as it's negates many claims also clarifies what to do. Let me simplify, what is SEO today, and what you need to do. 1. Build Brand that matters most (Preferably offline also) Google has numerous ways to identify your brand (brand names, their official websites, associated social accounts, etc.), 2. E-E-A-T is 80% propaganda, 20% substance (Get some Google reviews 😆) 3. Write good content matching searchers intent. (More important than links) Your content is shit, if it doesn't satisfy search intent. 4. Get a lot of relevant good quality backlinks. (Both Do Follow and No Follow) 5. Do not hurry and get frustrated competing big brand, google not going to reward you until... Instead build your brand gradually, build reputation among a sizeable audience (use various channels including social media, email marketing etc.) Eventually you will start wining the SERP. That's it, It's hard and simple.

Step 2: Review current #1 organic ranking pages for these term adding modifiers e.g. 'b2b saas seo company' and 'b2b saas seo agency' Step 3: Build content that surpasses the top ranking pages in all angles of EEAT: - Experience - Expertise - Authority - Trust Share the problems you fix on each page, how you fix them and proof of results. Each page could have video guides and examples. FAQs to address real sales calls Qs and objections head on to match user intent. Make sure URLs and technical SEO (heading tags etc) is relevant for each page for focus keywords. Step 4: Build authority with backlinks and get trusted by Google. 5 simple B2B SaaS SEO plays to drive leads fast (some work within 30 days): 1. 'Best [category] software/tool/platform' Typically a listicle format page. E.g. Top 10 [category] platforms Aim to make a more comprehensive and helpful list than the current #1 spot results. Add fair summaries of competitors. Put your brand first in the listicle and a clear example of problem you fix, how you fix it, some social proof and CTA. Build these for each key variation of your offer and keyword that prospects might use e.g. software/tool etc. 2. '[your brand] vs [competitor]' Same process but this is more focused on yourself then your core competitors. Build out for each main alternative. 3. '[Competitor] alternatives' Similar process as one. The search intent again will likely be a listicle. We've driven pipeline for clients within 30 days from this strat. 4. 'Best [Tool/software] for [industry]' Map out all the key industries you want to serve and that drive the most profitable clients. Build out long-form pages for every key offer + industry. 5. 'How to [job to be done]?' The spiciest framework in SEO (dominate your category): Jobs To Be Done (JTBD). This framework could even be the spiciest for marketing in general. JTBD in a nutshell: It starts with customer interviews. From people who have recently made a change (in your case who recently signed up) Understanding not what they bought... But why. That point of realising they could no longer make progress if they stayed as they are. They could no longer get the 'job' done. That tipping point is your marketing gold. How to use it to crush SEO: From customer interviews you work out how they were getting the 'job' done before using your solution. And the terrible thing (juicy, bleeding neck problem) that happened to prospects when they realised they needed to change. Then you leverage that in your pages and articles. -> JTBD -> Problem with it -> What happens if you ignore it -> Position your offer as the solution When you know what prospects have used before they came to your solution... You can target others with the same struggles searching on Google. Let's imagine you provide a power dialler SaaS tool. Your prospects might search: 'how to make faster cold calls with a cell phone' On your article you follow the framework above. Shining a light on the problem with manual dialling, impact (slow dials, less conversations and meetings) and solution (power dialler tool) with social proof and a clear CTA. ___ PS. I know submitting on different product directories is not the answer to bringing traffic to you product. However, just considering #seo , they are a good source of high quality backlink.
