About our Guest

Kristen leads teaching and learning strategy for Khan Academy and works to ensure a consistent research-based pedagogical approach across their offerings. This includes leading the content, product management, design, and customer support teams, and most recently – the launch of Khanmigo.

Throughout her career, Kristen has focused on the design of interactive digital technologies for learning and assessment, as well as researched and published extensively on the use of data from learner activity in games and simulations to understand what learners know and can do.

Prior to joining Khan Academy, Kristen was the Vice President of Learning Research and Design at Pearson, provided research support to the Networking Academies at Cisco, and was a school psychologist in a local school district in Arizona. She has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Hamilton College and received a Master’s and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Arizona State University.
