Harnessing the power of the sun ☀️ We’re thrilled to share that the Eurofins network is making significant strides in sustainability with the adoption of solar energy! Here are just a few examples from Europe: 🔆 The rooftops at Eurofins Umwelt West’s buildings in Wesseling, Germany have been transformed into a canvas for photovoltaic systems, generating renewable energy on-site to support laboratory operations and enable electric vehicle charging. 🔆 It doesn’t stop there! Our brand-new facility in Lentilly, France boasts a 600 m² array of solar panels, turning rays of sunshine into solar energy. 🔆 Over in Malbork, Poland, Eurofins Polska has cut annual carbon emissions by 55 tCO₂e thanks to the installation of solar panels. That’s the equivalent of planting over 2,500 trees! Every solar panel installed and every watt of energy generated is another step towards reducing our carbon footprint, driving us closer to our overall goal to become a carbon neutral organisation in 2025. The strangest samples we’ve ever received 😮 Together, Eurofins companies perform a total of more than 450 million tests each year, so you can imagine that we receive all sorts of samples! During the 2013 horse meat scandal, in which some foods in Europe were advertised as beef but actually contained horse meat, a Eurofins laboratory based in Wolverhampton, England received huge blocks of meat as samples, some weighing up to 30 kilograms! That’s the size of an extra-large suitcase. Luckily, the laboratory had a suitable room with a drain where samples could safely defrost, which could take days due to their size, and be prepared by the Wolverhampton team for testing! #Eurofins #Samples #TestingForLife

🌊 Say hello to 🧫 Vanessa CORDIER 🧪, Business Unit Manager (BUMA) based in the Eurofins LEA laboratory at Aix en Provence, France, part of the Water testing France laboratories. She has proudly been part of the Eurofins network for over six years. In her role as Business Unit Manager, she finds excitement in the entrepreneurial spirit found in every facet of the Eurofins network. 🌱 “I have held the position of BUMA of the Eurofins LEA laboratory for 6 years and I’m also its president. I’m fulfilling an entrepreneur's mission with great autonomy. What is especially interesting to me is being able to embody the values of the Eurofins network with my own personality, which allows the teams to always have clear direction from a local leader. I pay particular attention to ensuring that there is a nice atmosphere at work, and reducing our ecological footprint.” Her favourite part about working at #Eurofins NDSC Hydrologie France: “What I particularly like about the Eurofins network is the speed in which decisions are made, and the support for innovation and improvement projects.” But Vanessa knows none of this would be possible without her team at Eurofins LEA laboratory: “My team is great! It is made up of very diverse personalities who share the desire to do well, to improve, and to offer quality service to customers. This requires excellent communication between departments.” 🚀 She also appreciates the progression opportunities within the Eurofins network. Vanessa is a former laboratory technician with a degree in biochemistry, but it was still possible for her to ascend to the BUMA position. “Within the Eurofins network, nothing is impossible if you focus your energy in the right places and work hard.” Vanessa finds balance and focus through her passion for modern Japanese martial arts, known as #Aikido.
