It only takes about 1 years worth of pay…..

While I do not regret discovering this idea later in life, I truly wish someone had approached me at 18 and asked that one question.

Pondering this question and it’s implications changed my life at the age of 38.

I was 3 years into starting my own business at home when I first was exposed to this idea by Tim Ferriss in his book “4 Hour Workweek”, but for most of my life I had been a career employee.

I had already exchanged quite a bit of my younger life behind a keyboard in an office for $45,000 per year, then $100,000. 14 years total.

That $100,000 job took over 60 hours per week of my time average, with an on-call rotation that gobbled up my nights and weekends. I loved the income and at the time it felt like I was making really great money.

Problem was, I never really had time to enjoy that income.
