Google Rebrands Bard To Gemini
In shocking news today, tech giant Google has renamed its popular AI chatbot Bard to Gemini. Aside from the rebrand, Google also announced other Gemini products, including Gemini Advanced and a new mobile application.
Accessing the URL bard.google.com will now redirect you to gemini.google.com.
Why rename?
According to the release updates from Gemini, every user across Google’s supported countries and languages now has access to their best family of AI models with the new name. They wanted to simplify things for users, making it clear that the model they are engaging with is Gemini and not Bard.
Our mission with Bard has always been to give you direct access to our AI models, and Gemini represents our most capable family of models. To reflect this, Bard will now simply be known as Gemini.
It is also possible that they wanted to move away from the “Bard” branding since its botched launch in February 2023. Many people also don’t like the name and are calling for the company to change it.
