Wrapping up an Exciting Q2 at SLANG Global 🌍 We've had a vibrant quarter filled with cultural celebrations and learning opportunities that continue to bridge 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚. 🕺💃 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐚 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐭 - In partnership with Bush House Arena, we hosted a community-wide salsa competition. It was a thrilling day, with over 80 participants dancing their hearts out, learning, and competing in salsa. 🎷 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐳 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭- Over 30 people joined us at El Centro Cultural Azúcar , our headquarters in Enugu, Nigeria, to enjoy an evening of sensational music by the talented Albert Sinachi. It was a night of soulful Latin jazz. 📚 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 - We kicked off a new semester of beginner Spanish classes, available both in-person and online. These sessions foster language skills and deepen cultural connections between our diverse communities. Thank you to everyone who participated and made these events memorable. Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle Plastic Waste. Over time the use of plastic has severely contributed to environmental, social, economic, and health threats to our home Earth. The truth is that our planet is choking on plastic and it's time to change how we produce, consume, and dispose of the plastic we use. Currently, Nigeria generates approximately three million tonnes of plastic waste yearly, posing a severe threat to our environment. Three million tonnes of plastic waste? Shocking right? Don't be surprised, the one you disposed wrongly amounts to that figure. If your action could contribute wrongly to the threat facing us today, trust me, your right action to stare down on plastic pollution would uphold the global goals envisioned by the United Nations. So, dispose that waste properly. As part of our effort to create awareness on reuse, reduce, and recycle plastic waste to have a good atmosphere, we at ARTvocacy Movement took on the reflection wings with the theme: ARTmosphere (uniting creative art to achieve a greener future). We had a practical section with the Eco who taught us how we can make an ottoman (Nigerians call it a side stool) from Cocacola Now pet bottles and cartons. We are on a mission to make waste management a reality. Many thanks to Ogechi Nwonye- Bernard, Emmanuel Abanobi, and SLANG Global
