Last week our CTO Rune Knott was in Prosgrunn, Norway to participate in a panel on "CCUS - THE ROAD TO BECOMING CLIMATE NEUTRAL" on the Industriuka MainStage. Rune joined a range of technical and industry experts from SINTEF and Powered by Telemark. It was great to have the opportunity to discuss how Direct Air Capture (DAC) carbon dioxide removal is a complementary solution for the very hardest to abate emissions. "It's not "or", but "and"!" Thank you for a great panel Richard Blom, Eirik F.Ragnhild Skagestad, Francesca Di Bartolomeo, Magnar Bakke! #cdr #innovation #DAC #carbonremoval #industriuka

New partnership in the direct air capture space!🌱🤝 Removr is joining forces with Billington Process Technology (BPT) to improve efficiency in carbon removal. Through this partnership, Removr and BPT collaborate to develop a #digitaltwin that will not only speed up the optimization process, but also de-risk the project development phase towards industrial-scale direct air capture (#DAC) deployment. The digital twin and lifecycle simulator will accelerate and improve the accuracy of Removr’s planning, engineering, commissioning, and operation activities, and be utilized for multiple purposes including: ◾Conceptual simulation and validation of carbon capture process ◾Design verification and process system optimization ◾Control system design and validation ◾Optimization of size and functionality of key equipment ◾Establishing realistic training environments for operational personnel ◾Preparations for commissioning and desk top plant startup ◾Simulation of autonomous, unmanned operations Through the partnership, we’re laying a groundwork to significantly reduce atmospheric CO2 levels, as we steer towards a cleaner future. Excited to announce Chi Chow as our new CEO. Together with our very dedicated team he will continue on our mission to industrialise direct air capture at scale! Chi is a seasoned US-based executive with extensive energy and energy transition experience, most recently as Principal at Alussa Energy, a clean energy SPAC that merged with FREYR Battery in a public listing transaction on NYSE. Before that, more than two decades of experience within energy capital markets as a top-rated equity research analyst for Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Securities, Inc., Macquarie Group and other investment banks, and corporate strategy and finance positions at ARCO and Andeavor. “We are confident that Chi, the team, and strong industry backing for our projects in North America and Europe will yield strong development ahead,” says our chair, Anders Hegna Hærland. “The world is facing an existential climate crisis that requires the adoption of all decarbonization solutions. Negative emission carbon removal will play a key abatement role in this quest, and Removr is pioneering the deployment of an innovative, sustainable technology process to remove CO2 directly from the air that requires no water, no chemicals, no critical minerals, and no fossil fuel use,” says Chi Chow, the new CEO of Removr. #Greentransition #DAC #DACCS #carbonremoval See the full release here: https://lnkd.in/dvfhV8AN

We are pleased to achieve further industry backing from the global engineering leader COWI! COWI has selected Removr for its co-creator startup pilot program and will offer project planning and structuring support for our first commercial direct air capture projects and advance our project development. “Removr is experiencing strong industry backing for its planned direct air carbon capture and storage (DACCS) projects in Europe and North America. Being selected for the co-creator program by COWI, a company with a century-long history and an extensive track record of successfully executing major projects around the globe, is a recognition of Removr's market opportunity, technological maturity, and execution capabilities," says Removr's CEO, Einar Tyssen. Removr follows a stepwise scaling approach to industrialise DACCS and is one of only three DACCS companies worldwide with a planned project pipeline exceeding 1 million tons annual CO2 removal capacity by 2030. Removr’s first commercial plant is planned to commence operations in Iceland in 2025. “Removr stands out as a pioneer with an exciting technology to remove CO2 from the atmosphere – one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time," comments Charlotte Søgaard, Senior Innovation Director in COWI. We are proud and humbled to be part of the Ankeron consortium’s feasibility study for a first-of-a-kind DAC Hub, which just received federal support from the US DOE. The Ankeron DAC Hub is an important step for Removr in terms of developing in the US, and the Pacific Northwest is a uniquely well-suited location. The Ankeron DAC Hub is novel in 4 main ways: Community-First Design: The consortium partners aspire to an explicit mission, governance model and economic model designed to advance Justice40 goals, workforce development and community benefits, alongside achievement of the Department of Energy’s Carbon Negative Shot. Technological First: The consortium will undertake a feasibility study to assess the storage of carbon through mineralization in basaltic rock, harnessing the region’s deposits of basalt. Implementing new technologies: The hub will demonstrate a range of DAC and carbon utilization technologies that have the potential to be cost-advantaged and scalable long-term. Clean Energy Deployment: The hub will harness the Pacific Northwest region’s significant clean power resources and potential, and catalyze new clean power development to strengthen a low-carbon grid. Thanks to Daniel Pike and the team at RMI (Rocky Mountain Institute)!
Exciting News: 🌍🌱 Removr is proud to be part of a US consortium awarded $3M by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to study the feasibility of a first-of-a-kind Direct Air Capture hub. The Ankeron Carbon Management Hub, led by RMI includes a unique team of esteemed expert partners like Carbfix, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Fluor Corporation, The AES Corporation, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Washington State University Tri-Cities, Heirloom, Sustaera, Blue Planet , Twelve and LanzaTech. Together, we take an inclusive and innovative approach to DAC powered by clean energy. Einar Tyssen, CEO of Removr, comments: “The broad coalition of leading carbon removal research, technology and governmental organizations means the project will cover most parts of the carbon removal value chain. The hub demonstrates significant advancement in work to develop solutions that can remove carbon from the atmosphere at scale, which is necessary to keep global warming under 1.5 degrees. For Removr, the hub represents a high scientific integrity, resource-efficient entry to the US, the world’s most attractive DAC market.” #ClimateInnovation #Sustainability #CarbonRemoval #Dac #norway #pacificnorthwest #climatechange #climateaction Learn more:
