About us
It's water resistant, but that's not the only world first. The inventors of TASKA™ have taken what is awkward and fragile in any other prosthetic hand – and turned it on its head. TASKA™ was engineered to do one thing – to be more useful than any other myoelectric hand available. Our purpose is simple, to positively impact the lives of those with an upper limb difference. Our mission? Restoring confidence and ability, all day, every day. “For us, innovation has never been about creating a piece of new technology – it is all about delivering real-life practicality that improves people’s lives” - Mat Jury Inventor & Director of TASKA™. Doing more builds confidence. #domoreTASKA.

Diagnosed with brain tumour at 17 months old, Christina Shepherd, Software Developer at TASKA, is a cancer survivor and has received a lot of support from Canteen Aotearoa - a New Zealand charity that provides free support to young people aged 13 to 24 who are impacted by cancer. To celebrate her last year with the organisation, and to help Canteen reach more members, Christina and her sister decided to raise funds for the charity by shaving their heads, successfully raising over NZD 5,000 for Canteen! Have you experienced phantom pain? Phantom pain can be described as a sensation of shooting, stabbing, throbbing, cramping, itching, or burning in a body part that has been amputated. The sensation originates from the brain, which either remembers the last sensory information of the limb or creates a fictitious response as if the limb were still there. Despite there being no limb, phantom pain is not imaginary, it is the brain’s response to traumatic limb loss. We are proud to be involved with the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I³R) at the University of Arkansas contributing with their research efforts. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ge6DKbkP
📰 Read "Restoring Touch," out now on the University of Arkansas' Determined page: https://bit.ly/4ey69OA Founding executive director Dr. Ranu Jung, professor of biomedical engineering Dr. James Abbas, and the ANS Group at I³R, pioneered the neural-enabled prosthetic hand (NEPH) system with the purpose of impacting individuals with upper-limb amputations. As a participant in our clinical trial, Dewey Hickey regained a sense of touch in his left arm after losing it in a bicycle accident. He's the first Arkansan and only the second person globally to receive the novel prosthetic. Participants are the heroes of our clinical trials. Innovation doesn't happen without their courageous involvement. They play a crucial role in advancing our research and improving bioelectronic medicine, leading to breakthroughs that change lives. Thank you to Dewey and all of our participants, as well as our partners at TASKA™ Prosthetics, Cochlear, and Snell Prosthetics & Orthotics for helping our discoveries become a reality. We're also grateful for support from the United States Department of Defense and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). #SolvingWickedProblems #Innovation #UArk #NWA #economicdevelopment 📸 University Relations
