I've tried many foot files and I've found this one above and beyond others that I have tried. I even tried the pumice stones, electric foot files etc. this one is the best. Here are pictures of my Right heel (before) and left heel (after) as examples of what this wonderful device has done for me personally.If you're having problems with your feet, use this foot file, apply lotion and wear socks to protect your feet. This will also help in keeping the lotion close to your skin to prevent drying out. It just works :)Sorry for the ugly pictures, believe it or not the bad photo was actually one of my better feet, the others were really bloody and cracked up, I was in great pain :(I hope this review helps someone out there...

I found this foot file on a Buzzfeed list about products you must have. I was curious about if it worked as well as the article claimed, so I finally purchased it. I was quite pleased with the results! My dry feet were filed smooth in very little time. This file is quite amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who gets dry feet that crack. I would suggest not using it too frequently or aggressively, and make sure to put lotion on your feet afterwards. Otherwise your feet may be slightly tender for several days afterwards.

I almost let the negative reviews scare me out of buying this. I was convinced I was going to receive a massive cheese grater and lose a finger to it or something! I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It was not as big as I expected and was very comfortable to hold. I started off gently but after 10 minutes I was confident I wasn't going to hurt myself and was grating like there's no tomorrow. This thing is amazing. My rough, scaly heels look and feel SO MUCH BETTER after literally the first use. If you already have soft skin, I'd recommend something gentler, but it is perfect for tough or calloused feet.

Several years ago purchased a small metal foot rasp from a beauty supply chain store. I never really liked it but was tired of wasting money on sandpaper filers that did not last. The rasp recently went missing and honestly... I didn't care! Instead, I saw this a the perfect excuse/ reason/ opportunity to find something different and better.
There were many sandpaper smoothers on Amaon and then I saw one that claimed to be different, that the sandpaper would remain useful and would stay afixed for 5yrs or more. Color me skeptical because if sandpaper is going to last 5+ yrs, how sore would my feet be the first year or two?
Then I saw the Colossal Foot Rasp Foot File by Rikans, and I read some of the many reviews about it; then I reread info about that sandpaper file I'd just seen. In my opinion, it did not compare in the slightest to Rikans Colossal Foot Rasp, so that's what I chose.
I was anxious but hopeful it would do what sooo many others claim it does because I've always had ugly feet, dry and calloused, no matter how many times per day I sandpaper'd them or applied skin lotion on them.
The box was opened as soon as it arrived, and I used it right after reading the brief instructions (brief is all that's needed) plus some of the comments again on Amaon's website. There was a Mound (!!!) of powdery dry skin after just one use of Rikan's' Colossal Foot Rasp! No joke. The dry, calloused skin on the outer side of both toes was gone, as was the dry skin on the sides and soles of both feet.
Both heels lately have had pain from pressure of standing because I developed very hard, dry callouses on them; and then it seemed a second layer of dry, hard callous layered over the first one. Rikans' foot rasp remoed much of that after just one use. I'm sure it would have removed it all from both heels the first time, but I didn't want to chance doing too much too soon. I'm using past tense "was" in my review because I've only used the Rikans rasp once so far (it arrived only a couple days ago).
This rasp is as big as my hand, and I noticed right away that the blades of this rasp are very different than my previous one. RIKANS GOT IT RIGHT. Immediatley I felt how gentle it was on my feet and how simple and easy it was to use. It's large enough to easily get all around your feet, to the places you can't see or smooth well. After that first use I had no nicks, cuts, scrapes, redness, bleeding, etc. What I did receive was velvety soft, smooth skin--AND AMAZINGLY HAPPY FEET!!!
My recommendation to others: if you're a first time user of a metal rasp, don't be afraid of it. Just barely touch it to your skin. It can be moved in any direction, but use minimal pressure.
My recommendation to Rikans: as many others have suggested, please supply a catch plate of some sort (plastic?). This is my only crticism of your wonderful product.

For years I have been using the special creams designed to soften rough heels. They have had little or no effect. I cannot tell you how many pairs of socks my abrasive heels have ruined. But this product--and I am not exaggerating--made my rough heels as smooth as silk in four or five gentle swipes. I was afraid that the scraper might be dangerous to use, since the photo makes it look like one of my woodworking tools. No problem at all. Love this! It does an awesome job on dry and rough areas of the foot. I only bought it because of the high praise other reviewer gave it.. and I have to agree!!! I have only used it dry (not wet as some other reviewers suggest). Agree with the “go easy” otherwise you risk grating off too much dry/dead skin. It’s better to give your feet a couple of gentle rubs over a couple of days for a great result, than get carried away and end up in pain because you took too much off!
