🆕 Exciting news! We are thrilled to announce the successful issuance of our first social bond under our Sustainable Instruments Framework, published in January 2024. This EUR 500 million 4NC3 Senior Non-Preferred issuance supports an asset pool comprising affordable housing for low-income families and senior care homes, providing essential services to elderly and/or vulnerable people. 🌱 With this milestone, we expand our ESG issuance programme, which began in 2020 with our first green bond issuance. With the issuance of green and now social financing instruments, we aim to contribute to the further advancement of the sustainable finance market and raise funds that match those we lend to our clients to achieve their goals in transforming their business in a climate-friendly and socially sustainable manner. 📢 News: Our Supervisory Board appointed Laura Padovani as Chief Compliance and AFC Officer. She will be responsible for Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) and will also become a member of our Management Board, effective July 1. Padovani succeeds Stefan Simon in his responsibility for Compliance and AFC. Her appointment will facilitate further steps to evolve and strengthen our bank’s control environment. Following significant progress made in recent years under Simon’s leadership, more day-to-day controls are being re-integrated into the processes of businesses, an approach Padovani has significant experience with. This will enable control functions to focus on monitoring and challenging the business units while further improving the resilience of our bank’s controls. In doing so, our bank is setting up its control framework in line with industry best practice. Explore rare snapshots of the interior and many employees of the office in the Bulgarian capital. ↩ Throwback: In response to a request from Tsar Ferdinand, Deutsche Bank opened a representative office in Sofia in 1917. Despite closing and relocating to Berlin after the end of the First World War in 1918, the office made a comeback in 1921. After the merger of Deutsche Bank and Disconto-Gesellschaft in October 1929, the Deutsche Bank Sofia branch was merged with Kreditbank Sofia, the Bulgarian subsidiary of Disconto-Gesellschaft. Deutsche Bank established its office in Vienna in 1989 after having taken over the Viennese private bank Antoni, Hacker & Co. ⌛️ 🤝 Back in Germany, a new chapter of history was being written with the fall of the Berlin Wall. The strong economic links between Germany and Austria, together with Vienna’s role as an important gate to the East, were key factors in Deutsche Bank deciding to offer financial services in Austria as well. 🇪🇺 When Austria joined the EU in 1995, Deutsche Bank was able to merge the Austrian subsidiary with the German parent company, thanks to Europe’s freedom of establishment principle, with operations continuing under the name of the Vienna Branch. Since entering the Austrian market, Deutsche Bank’s business in the country has been a story of sustainable success.
