🚨 The financing gap for climate adaptation is at least 50% larger than previously estimated, with developing countries needing 10-18 times more than current international public finance flows. ➡ To help tackle this, Swedfund International is investing EUR 30 million in The Urban Resilience Fund (TURF), managed by Meridiam, which focuses on developing and investing in sustainable and resilient urban infrastructure in Africa. "By focusing on resilient infrastructure, TURF not only addresses the immediate needs of rapidly growing cities, but also lays the foundation for sustainable urban development that prioritises climate resilience and social equity," says Jérémie Hoffsaes from Swedfund's #Energy & #Climate team. The projects include both climate #mitigation and #adaptation strategies. For example, the Nouakchott Coastline Development project in Mauritania aims to restore a 12km dune ridge and protect the coastline from erosion and groundwater flooding. Swedfund CEO Maria Håkansson welcomed Sharbini Suhaili, Group CEO of Sarawak Energy, and his team to our headquarters in Stockholm this Monday. 🇲🇾🇸🇪 Sarawak Energy is a century-old, vertically integrated power utility providing reliable, renewable energy to 3 million Sarawakians, primarily through hydropower. 💧 Throughout our partnership with Sarawak Energy, now three years strong, we have: 🔹 Identified capacity to integrate 1700MW of solar power in the Sarawak grid by 2030. 🔹 Assessed large-scale battery systems for grid stability and peak load supply. 🔹 Launched preparations for the Batang AI floating solar extension project (~160MW). Swedfund is dedicated to supporting critical infrastructure projects in OECD/DAC countries, focusing on the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Our #ProjectAccelerator's feasibility studies play a key role in this mission. 🌍 🤝 We look forward to continuing our work with Sarawak Energy, supporting their efforts to decarbonise #Sarawak, #Malaysia, and become a regional green power exporter. #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #Partnership #Swedfund #SarawakEnergy #ProjectAccelerator

🙏The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, Union to Union, Forever Sustainable, Skandia, Petra Tötterman Andorff, Håkan Jevrell, Maria Nyberg, Malin Sandquist, Magnus Runsten, Gabriel Lundström, Victoria Lidén, Therese Sjömander Magnusson, Edvard Unsgaard, Marlene Rosendal och många många fler. More than 800 days into this brutal war, Ukrainians have endured and adapted, demonstrating a well-functioning society with growing businesses, a skilled workforce and new opportunities. The determination of Ukrainian families, the actions of the Ukrainian government and the support of Ukraine's partners have shown remarkable resilience. Our CEO, Maria Håkansson, just came back from a Swedish trade delegation to Kyiv led by the Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell. During this visit, Swedfund met with key stakeholders, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Prime Minister and several Ukrainian ministers. We also engaged with the Kyiv School of Economics and the European Investment Bank (EIB), gaining both insight and confidence in Ukraine's future. - Winter is coming. We need to accelerate energy investment, President Zelenskyy rightly told the delegation. He also stressed the importance of economic resilience through jobs, taxes and export revenues. With additional capital injections from the Swedish government, we are expanding our efforts to invest in energy projects, SME financing, food systems, green infrastructure and digitalisation. Our #ProjectAccelerator team will provide financial and technical support for feasibility studies, project design and capacity building. This commitment is further strengthened by recently signed MOUs between Swedfund and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and state-owned company Naftogaz of Ukraine, focusing on energy security, decarbonisation, renewables and grid modernisation. 📍🇺🇦 Swedfund's investment team continues to look for new opportunities to support private sector development in Ukraine, and in response to the need for local presence and targeted support, we are happy to announce the opening of a new office in Ukraine, with recruitment starting soon. ➡ Read more in Regeringskansliet, Utrikesdepartementet’s press release: https://lnkd.in/dZARS2w3 🙏 A warm thanks to the whole delegation: Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden Andreas Flodström , CEO of Beetroot Gustaf Salford, CEO of Elekta Jarek Lange, Responsible for Eastern Europe, Elekta Anders Carp, Deputy CEO of Saab Camilla Dewoon, Communications Director for Scania Group Stephan Stureborg, Responsible for Ericsson Eurasia Fredrik Robertsson, VP, Group Chief Security Officer, Ericsson Roger Alm, CEO of Volvo Trucks Andreas Svenungsson, CEO of Volvo Defense Fredrik Hillelsson, CEO of Novare and initiator of Skill Shift Initiative #Swedfund #TeamSweden #StandWithUkraine #Ukraine #DevelopmentFinance
