Join us in celebrating the remarkable life of Dan Smith, a man whose legacy continues to inspire us all. On Sunday 14 July at Butts Park Arena, Coventry, CV1 3GE, the Tamworth Phoenix American football club are hosting an event to celebrate the life of Dan Smith. Dan was a highly respected coach in British American football. He played several seasons and lead teams before transitioning into coaching. He was a selfless man and a great mentor to many. His attitude towards life and sport aligned closely with Access Sport, as he believed in the power of sport and that it should be inclusive to all. We are using the funds raised in memory of Dan to support a range of local community sports initiatives across England and other areas that were important to Dan and his family. Find out more about The Dan Smith Fund on our website - https://lnkd.in/deHyZ43 Let’s come together to celebrate, remember and continue the work that Dan was so passionate about. Thank you to the LTA and LTA Foundation for giving two of our team the incredible opportunity to participate in the coin toss ceremonies at recent tennis championships. Helen Rowbotham, our CEO, and Sue Wheeler, our Administration Director, helped kick off the matches at the Cinch Championships and Rothesay International in Eastbourne on Thursday 20 June and Wednesday 26 June. It was an honour for them to be a part of it. Find out more about how we are working to make tennis more inclusive in partnership with the LTA. https://lnkd.in/dQ9bERZp

“The kids have all had such a good time. It’s nice to see their confidence grow each time they do it.” Yesterday, we hosted the London School Games at the Lee Valley Olympic BMX track! The event brought together over 100 young people from schools across London to race at an Olympic venue and celebrate their involvement in our Changing Sports Cycling programme. With corporate volunteers from Workday, Sullivan & Stanley, Clearwater, Columbia Threadneedle Investments EMEA APAC, and Perry Ellis International the day was a fantastic success. Did you know that 64% of teenage girls with disabilities do not engage in regular sport or exercise? To us, that’s just not good enough. That’s why we couldn’t be prouder of The Sweaty Betty Foundation’s latest partnership. Together with Women in Sport and Nuffield Health, they’ve teamed up with Access Sport to bring you Breaking Barriers; a ground-breaking new project shedding light on the challenges teenage girls with disabilities have accessing physical movement. Last week, we hosted an incredible internal panel, including Helen Rowbotham and Kelly Smith to share the crucial research. From everyday barriers to game-changing initiatives, we all have a part to play in creating a more inclusive world when it comes to young girls and sport. Together, let’s help girls get active and stay active, for life. #thesweatybettyfoundation
