We all know that the proportion of people working from home increased dramatically when the Covid pandemic hit - perhaps you and your colleagues enjoy the benefits yourself? We were interested to see that staff at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have voted to strike in protest at plans requiring them to be in the office for at least 40% of the working week. You can read the article here... https://bbc.in/3US6sur ""Office"" for National Statistics? Perhaps it should be renamed the “Home"" for National Statistics 🤣 Apologies, we'll see ourselves out.

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for engineering, eager to dive into the bustling world of innovation and problem-solving? Embarking on your journey into the engineering industry can be both exhilarating and daunting, especially as the route you'll take is probably very different to that of an experienced individual. We asked an expert - our Head of Operations, Christian - for his advice, and this is what he had to say... ""Typically companies will run their own graduate programmes, and not rely on the support of Talent Partners and agencies. Therefore the best strategy is to firstly research the companies you want to approach. Create a target list of organisations that align to the sector of specialism you wish to pursue, but also embody the values that resonate with you. Establish who the most appropriate contact is within these organisations, that could be a HR professional, an early career specialist or even a Head of Department. Then craft a tailored, and very specific communication to them explaining why you want to join alongside your CV/profile. This should highlight areas of your knowledge, experience, capability and aspirations and they should be aligned to the company you are approaching. Finally, ensure that you follow up with a phone call to the appropriate person. By doing this you will elevate and differentiate yourself from all other applicants” Remember, the path to a successful engineering career is not always linear. Embrace challenges, seize opportunities, and continue to grow and evolve as a professional. With dedication, perseverance, and a dash of creativity, you'll carve out your niche in the exciting and rewarding world of engineering.
