Between 2011 and 2023, the total acreage dedicated to growing the hops used to produce traditional British beers halved in size. Yet there are signs of a burgeoning revival among domestic hop growers centred on innovation and sustainability. Asahi UK Sustainability Manager Sam Goodenough talked to Footprint about ambitious plans to support growers by sourcing British hops and other key ingredients. While Will Rogers from Charles Faram & Co Ltd explains that new climate-resilient hop varieties are being bred that replicate the flavour and aroma of popular New World varieties.... #Sustainability #WeAreAsahi

We are very excited to be launching a new initiative with our supplier Asahi UK and the London waterways charity Thames 21. Project Mori incentivises our depots to place fewer but larger orders in return for planting trees. The project could save up to 245 tonnes of C02 per year, by taking up to 450 vehicle journeys off the road! In addition, the potential 3,700 trees planted will help restore the naturally depleted area around the River Roding, which is close to where Asahi source their barley to make the beer we sell. This partnership shows how better collaboration with your supply chain can help tackle our shared climate challenges, and help us deliver to our sustainability targets! #netzero #collaboration #treeplanting #naturalregenaration

We've been filling in our British Beer & Pub Association wallchart across the Euros action. Ahead of tonight's big match, it's worth noting that England start with a hefty 35.7p per pint disadvantage against the Netherlands when it comes to beer duty. So whichever pub you're watching in tonight, head over to beerandpub.com, show your support and join the campaign to make it a fair game for UK brewing. #LongLiveTheLocal #WeAreAsahi

This week, we’ve celebrated the launch of a new initiative in partnership with LWC Drinks which aims to save 245 tonnes of CO2 per year. The project encourages depots to compete to schedule more efficient deliveries, and rewards the most successful depots by planting trees.   If the depots hit all their goals, the partnership will take up to 450 vehicle journeys off the road and aims to plant over 3,700 trees with Thames21 to help restore UK nature.   Reducing emissions throughout our supply chain is a key focus for Asahi UK and we know we will only achieve this by working in partnership with our suppliers and customers. So we are delighted to be working with one of our key on-trade partners LWC and Thames 21 on this fantastic initiative to reduce road-miles, tackle our scope 3 emissions and work towards our Legacy 2030 sustainability targets.   #Sustainability #WeAreAsahi

Fantastic to see Asahi UK and Fuller's Brewery take delivery of their first 25-tonne load of malt in Chiswick to arrive courtesy of a zero tailpipe emission electric truck.🔋⚡ The vehicle in question is a Volvo FH Electric, which we supplied earlier this year for Bury St. Edmunds-based Boortmalt’s operation, via its logistics partner The Bartrum Group. Together, the two companies made the decision to put the truck's 300km range (between charges) to the test, with today's delivery. After successfully completing the journey, our Fleet Solutions Manager Jonathan Warby reports the truck returned to base with 18% battery remaining. And no top-ups required. Until now, the truck's regular work has been delivering Boortmalt’s products to Enfield and across East Anglia – before bringing barley back to site from Boortmalt’s network of suppliers and stores. Today's run opens up more opportunities for the truck delivering even further afield. 👍💚

On Tuesday, we hosted an inspiring Women in Sales event at Asahi UK, aimed at shedding light on the experiences of women working in the historically male-dominated beer industry. As a pilot session, we delved into discussions around bias and discrimination, sharing personal stories that highlighted the supportive environment within Asahi. It was reassuring to hear how valued and uplifted the women in the room felt. Our conversation also focused on strategies to attract more women into sales roles within beer. We’re excited to roll out more initiatives in this space—stay tuned! In addition to these important discussions, we took time for self-reflection, working on areas such as self-belief, career progression, purpose, and the importance of building strong networks. Together, we’re committed to making a positive impact and driving change in our industry. 💪✨ #WomenInSales #WeAreAsahi #Diversity #Inclusion #WomenInBeer #SalesLeadership #OpenToAll
