Bionical Emas is proudly supporting Metabolic Awareness Week (1 to 7 July). Metabolic disorders are conditions that affect the body’s metabolism and ability to break down food. Metabolic Awareness Week is a week-long opportunity to come together to raise awareness of inherited metabolic disorders by sharing stories, and helping people understand more about the complex and rare conditions and how they affect people. Recently, Naomi Litchfield, Director of Patient Advocacy at Bionical Emas, spoke to Laura Smith van Carroll, MMSc Head of Insight & Advocacy at Metabolic Support UK. Listen here as Naomi shares her thoughts and insights on what to expect as a metabolic patient and family when joining a clinical trial. https://lnkd.in/eARPbMc7 #MetabolicAwarenessWeek #MetabolicSupportUK #InheritedMetabolicDisorders #RareDisease #BionicalEmasSupports

Today on Global MND Day (21 June), we recognise and acknowledge the devastating impact that Motor Neurone Disease (MND) has on people and their families around the world. MND affects the cells in the brain and nerves, called motor neurones, this can lead to muscle weakness and loss of movement. Unfortunately, there is no cure for MND at this time, but there is a significant need to raise awareness about its symptoms and to support research to find effective treatments. #GlobalMNDDay #MND #motorneuronedisease #ALSMNDWithoutBorders #BioncialEmasSupports

Bionical Emas is proud to support #WorldFSHDDay by raising awareness and recognizing patients and families around the world affected by Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). FSHD is a hereditary rare genetic muscular disease that targets the muscles of the face, shoulders, upper arms, and lower legs. Almost a million people worldwide live with FSHD, and unfortunately, there is no cure. However, there is hope, thanks to the patient advocates, clinicians, and researchers dedicated to finding new treatments. Today, as part of Pride Month, we had the pleasure of hearing from Eva Echo (she/they). Eva is an activist, writer, and public speaker who is passionate about transgender rights and mental health. She spoke to us about the importance of inclusive healthcare and her involvement in legal action against NHS England in the High Court, challenging the unlawful waiting times for trans patients as well as being a better ally inside and outside of work. We are incredibly grateful to Eva for giving up her time to speak with us! #PrideMonth #Education #TransgenderHealth #allyship

Bionical Emas are proudly supporting National Black Family Cancer Awareness Week (13 – 19 June 2024). In the US, Black Americans have the highest cancer death rate for most leading cancer types. During #BlackFamCan, efforts will be made to raise awareness about this disparity and to highlight the importance of discussing family cancer history, prevention, screening, and inclusion in clinical trials. #BlackFamCan #CancerAwareness #BionicalEmasSupports

Today sees the start of Carers Week, a week-long UK-wide awareness campaign dedicated to increasing visibility for carers. This year's theme, ‘Putting Carers on the Map,’ aims to highlight the increasing pressures carers experience and to campaign for much-needed recognition and support. Carers Week raises awareness of the challenges carers face on a daily basis - including the impact on their finances, employment, physical and mental health, and wellbeing. As a CRO, Bionical Emas is committed to embedding the voice, needs, and perspective of patients, families, and carers in the clinical trials and Early Access Programs we run. Our Patient Advocacy Team is available to work closely with Patient Advocacy Groups to understand the unique needs of a patient community and their support systems, and incorporate this insight into the design and delivery of our programs to ensure carer burden is reduced however and wherever possible. We look forward to listening and learning from the voices and experiences of carers that will be shared this week, and wanted to recognise the millions of people across the UK providing unpaid care, and the countless carers across the globe. #CarersWeek2024 #CarersWeek #PuttingCarersOnTheMap
