One of the biggest challenges I am hearing from Chief Financial Officers at the moment is... They need to hire as there's lots of change, challenge and transformation in most of their companies at the moment. New skill-sets are needed, maybe new energy levels as fatigue is present in tired functions. Healthy churn is needed to replace those that are ready for promotions but without the route/role to go into. Fresh motivated team mates are need to drive improvements and to lead projects. but It's tricky, as spending budgets are tight so its about replacing team members and that can be seriously hard... when macro noise is negative candidates don't look externally as much. Churning out legacy individuals that have come via acquisitions naturally takes time and empathy. I've noticed the best CFOs find solutions to motivate their existing team and manage out those they can't offer progression to. I would love to hear more thoughts on this from the CFO community.
