🚨Oops! Your audience might just scroll past your video. It might happen if your videos lack visual appeal. But it’s not just about aesthetics. According to Richard Mayer’s 15 Principles of Multimedia, structuring your videos’ multimedia elements is key to maximizing learning outcomes. Mayer’s theory is built on three assumptions: 1️⃣ Dual-channel assumption: People process auditory and visual info separately. 2️⃣ Limited-capacity assumption: We have a limited ability to absorb information at any one time. 3️⃣ Active-processing assumption: Engagement is crucial for effective learning. Which principle do you think makes the biggest impact on viewer engagement?

🚨 Workforce development edtech is a busy space, and it can be hard to keep up with innovation. 🔎 At Emerge, we want to help you see clearly. 🎓 Members of our Workforce Development Leadership Board, chaired by Donald H Taylor tell us that keeping up to date with the best emerging edtech companies in WD is difficult, confusing and overwhelming. So every year, we publish a list of top edtech companies — crowdsourced from our WD board and further afield — to help L&D leaders and CHRO’s see what is out there. By highlighting great practice, we hope to encourage innovation. We launched this year’s Edtech 20:20 vision list with an open session on Zoom chaired by Donald H Taylor who interviewed Tamar Elkeles, PhD, (CHRO, Board of Glimpse, OpenSesame) from our Venture Partner group about the importance of this list for the WD sector and then focused on as selection inspiring founders from the top 40 - Jeet Mukerji (Kinfolk), Husayn Kassai (Quench.ai) and Sylvie Milverton (Lynx Educate) - who told us about the hard problems they were solving for corporate learners around the world. 📝 You can see the live recording of the meeting here: https://lnkd.in/g2kPqNSX ⏭️ And you can access the full 20:20 vision write-up here: https://lnkd.in/gCWZseTS The full write-up includes; > The full list of top emerging edtech companies, with summaries and insights > Views from sector experts including some of our Venture Partners > A series of market maps sketching out the landscape of key players ❗️Note: The list is based on public and private data. Crunchbase and Pitchbook are primary data sources where we capture company valuation, funding raised, HQ location and employee data. We leverage LinkedIn as a secondary source for employee data. As an edtech-specialist venture firm, Emerge Education also captures our proprietary data to complete our analysis. The list is crowdsourced and voted on by our HE edtech leadership board. Full criteria are in the write-up. No single list can ever capture the full scope of innovation in this space — there will always have to be some exciting companies that were not included. Please let us know if you think we’ve missed any great companies — we will add all suggestions to our full dataset and consider them ahead of next year’s update! 💥 And finally, if you are developing an innovative company in edtech/ future of work and are looking for your first cheque funding do apply to us here: https://lnkd.in/gtjyZGzy  we look at everything as we believe in democratising access to funding (just as much as we believe in democratising access to education and skills!). #workforcedevelopment, #edtech, #founders, #skillsgap, #innovation, #tertiaryeducation
