Ducatus Partners recently conducted a major research project into the global #hydrogen sector for a high-profile private equity firm. The project objective was to grow their understanding of the emerging landscape, particularly green hydrogen for future investment opportunities, strategic partners, and future executive and non-executive leaders for the portfolio. The project surveyed over 500 companies and over 1000 hydrogen executives across major producers, technology partners, industry associations, and investors. Global hydrogen demand is currently met primarily through the traditional #energy sectors, specifically steam methane reforming, and is driven by the needs of the fertilizer production and refining sectors. These industries are anticipated to be the frontrunners in adopting cleaner hydrogen variants (predominately blue and green hydrogen) by 2030 in slower transition scenarios, as they move towards cleaner hydrogen for their operations. Meanwhile, the adoption of hydrogen in other sectors such as steel production, synthetic fuel production, and heavy road transport is expected to pick up pace in faster transition scenarios. Presently, the #hydrogen industry is dominated by grey hydrogen, which constitutes about 90 million tons per annum of the total consumption. This trend, however, is projected to shift dramatically towards clean hydrogen due to its growing cost competitiveness and environmental commitments, with clean hydrogen potentially making up 73 to 100 percent of total hydrogen demand by 2050 according to McKinsey & Company. The #transition towards clean hydrogen will be marked by a significant decrease in grey hydrogen production post-2025, driven by the adoption of blue and green hydrogen in existing industries and the introduction of hydrogen in new markets between 2030 and 2040. Q: What does being a Men Wear Pink Ambassador mean to you? Why will you wear pink all October? A: It truly was an honor to be chosen to be an Ambassador. Bringing awareness, encouragement and support to patients and families affected by cancers is so important. Q: How has breast cancer impacted you and/or your loved ones? A: I have had several friends, and more recently, colleagues affected by breast cancer, and I’m delighted to say they have all who have gone on to make a full recovery.
