I was thrilled to support the GW4 Alliance and their campaign for fair childcare provision for postgraduate students. Read more in the report linked below.
Director of the GW4 Alliance, bringing together the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter
Today GW4 Alliance and Higher Education Policy Institute are publishing a new policy note about the gap in Government backed childcare support for postgraduate students. Postgraduates are not entitled to the same support as undergraduates or workers. The #ICareGW4ChildcareCampaign highlights the impact of this gap on individuals, the diversity of higher education and the high-skilled workforce. It attempts to set out the scale of the issue, given that Masters and Docotoral studies often coincide with the age people have children. It sets out the changes which would offer parity for this critical group who are the foundation of the research workforce as well as being students.
