The BBC have reported that a drug used to extend the lifespans of laboratory animals by nearly 25% is being tested on humans, a breakthrough that scientists hope could also slow human ageing. The treated animals were healthier, stronger, and developed fewer cancers than the untreated ones. The drug, currently in human trials, targets interleukin-11, a protein that increases with age and contributes to inflammation and aging.
